Treasure Coast Community Unites for Hunger Action Month

September marks Hunger Action Month, a nationwide initiative to raise awareness and inspire action to end hunger. On the Treasure Coast, one in four neighbors, including children, experience food insecurity.
Throughout the month, Treasure Coast Food Bank (TCFB) will lead a series of events and campaigns designed to mobilize the community and drive meaningful change. In collaboration with local businesses, organizations, and municipalities, TCFB will spotlight how united efforts are expanding access to nutritious food, promoting dignity in service, improving health outcomes, and creating pathways to long-term food security for neighbors across the region.
“Hunger Action Month reminds us that we can empower our community to end hunger when we work together,” said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. “Every action makes a difference, whether you’re illuminating your business or workplace in the color orange, joining the 5K, donating or volunteering. Together, we can create a Treasure Coast where no one worries where their next meal will come from.”
Light Up Orange: A Symbol of Solidarity
Participants in the Light Up Orange campaign will receive a complimentary orange light bulb to illuminate, businesses, and landmarks in orange—the color of hunger awareness. This symbolic effort encourages visible unity across the Treasure Coast to end hunger.
The collaborative approach reflects the understanding that addressing food insecurity requires community-wide partnerships, with every sector playing a vital role.
