Stuart Fire Rescue 9/11
Bridge Walk
City of Stuart Fire Rescue invites you to join us for the annual 9/11 Bridge Walk across the Roosevelt Bridge and back on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
This moving tribute honors the lives lost and the heroes who rose on September 11, 2001. Participants will gather at 8:00 a.m. in Shepard Park (600 SW Ocean Blvd, Stuart, FL 34994), with the memorial walk beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m.

SEPTEMBER IS HUNGER ACTION MONTH
Solving Hunger Together
This September, the Treasure Coast joins the nationwide campaign led by Feeding America to shine a spotlight on hunger and inspire action against food insecurity. Throughout the month, the Treasure Coast Food Bank will host a variety of community events designed to raise awareness and encourage participation.
The campaign kicked off on Go Orange Day, September 1, when residents, schools, businesses, and organizations were encouraged to wear orange—the official color of hunger relief—to show support and bring visibility to the cause.
Another key date is Hunger Action Day, September 9, a national day of recognition that unites people across the country in the shared commitment to addressing hunger in their local communities.
The City of Stuart invites YOU to join the campaign and help feed families in need by participating in our City of Stuart food drive, which will benefit the pantry of the Treasure Coast Food Bank.
The 'Top 10 Most Wanted' food items on the Treasure Coast Food Bank's list are canned beans, canned fish, canned meat (chicken or turkey), diapers, gift cards, grains (rice, pasta, cereal), hearty meals (soups, stews, chili), laundry detergent, peanut butter, and poptop foods.
Food drive drop-off locations are
City Hall (121 S.W. Flagler Avenue)
City Annex, Customer Service (101 S.W. Flagler Avenue)
Public Safety Complex, 830 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr.
Our food drive runs from September 8 through October 17, 2025. Thank you in advance for helping us address hunger in our local area.

HURRICANE PREPARENDNESS
Staying Safe at Home During a Hurricane
When a hurricane threatens your area, your home can be your safest refuge—if you're prepared. If local authorities advise sheltering in place, here’s what you need to know to stay safe and informed throughout the storm.
Before the Storm Hits
1. Secure Your Home
- Close and lock all windows and doors.
- Use storm shutters or board up windows with plywood.
- Bring in outdoor furniture, decorations, and anything that could become a projectile.
2. Prepare an Emergency Kit. Include:
- Flashlights and extra batteries
- Non-perishable food and water (at least 3 days’ worth)
- First-aid supplies and medications
- Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
- Phone chargers and backup power banks
3. Fill Up and Charge Up
- Fill your bathtub with water for flushing toilets.
- Charge all devices and backup batteries.
- Fill your car’s gas tank in case of evacuation later.
During the Hurricane
1. Stay Inside and Away from Windows
- Shelter in an interior room, closet, or hallway on the lowest level.
- Avoid rooms with windows or glass doors.
2. Monitor Alerts
- Keep a battery-powered radio or NOAA weather radio on for updates.
- Follow local emergency management on social media if internet access is available.
3. Stay Calm and Connected
- Keep family members together and calm.
- Use text messages or social media to communicate—phone lines may be overloaded.
After the Storm
1. Wait for the All-Clear
- Do not leave your shelter until officials say it’s safe, even if the weather seems calm (you could be in the eye of the storm).
2. Watch for Hazards
- Avoid downed power lines, flooded roads, and damaged buildings.
- Use flashlights instead of candles to prevent fire hazards.
3. Check In
- Let friends and family know you’re safe.
- Report any damage to local authorities or your insurance provider.
Stay safe, stay informed, and remember: preparation is your best protection.
