Connection

From the Desk of Kara Stimpson, President and CEO

Hello!
Welcome to the first edition of our monthly newsletter, created with our network of supporters, advocates, and participants in mind.  Entering my 10th month at the helm of this great organization, I am happy to be able to get this communication going to help keep our community aware of how we are living out our mission each day.

As you read, I hope you will feel inspired by the stories from our programs and participants, engaged in understanding the needs we have to meet in our communities, and curious about how you might get more involved in this work.

Whether your passion is early intervention, ensuring the stability of all families, access to mental health, including individuals with disabilities in workforce development, or simply put “helping people succeed”, we have a way for you to engage with us and our service to others.  Read on and reach out if you’d like to get involved!
Sincerely,
Kara Stimpson, CEO

Another Memorable and Successful Summer at Camp!
As the summer winds down, we’re reflecting on yet another incredible season of learning, laughter, and lasting memories at our summer camps. Each year, our mission is to provide a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for children—and this summer was no exception. From exciting activities and hands-on learning to meaningful friendships and supportive staff, our camps continue to be a place where children can grow, explore, and thrive.
We’re especially grateful for the kind words and heartfelt feedback shared by parents. Here are just a few messages that remind us why we do what we do:
“Keeping children engaged in activities can be challenging, especially at this age. Your staff has truly made an impression on these children’s lives—and that benefits them in such meaningful ways.”
“As a parent, the peace of mind I feel each day when I drop my child off is priceless. I know he’s safe, supported, and will have a wonderful time. I also appreciate how you keep the learning going all summer long—it really shows in his excitement and development.”
“I just wanted to say thank you. Your programs mean so much, not just to the kids, but to families as a whole. I sincerely hope those who support and invest in your programs understand the deep and positive impact they’re making in these children’s lives.”
“As a recently relocated military family, finding a safe, supportive, and fun environment for our children was one of our top priorities. Your program has been a true blessing. Every day, our kids come home full of stories, excitement, and joy. The care, structure, and energy your team brings to camp are truly exceptional—and we are so grateful.”

Spotlight on Working Wednesdays at Helping People Succeed
Every Wednesday at our Jensen Beach location—1601 Success Drive—adults in our Adult Day Training Program come together for a day filled with purpose, learning, and community connection. Known as Working Wednesdays, this initiative is designed to help adults with disabilities build life skills, explore career paths, volunteer locally, and gain confidence in their abilities to succeed independently.
This past week, we had the privilege of welcoming Josh Jenkins from Martin County Fire and Rescue, who led an engaging and educational session on fire safety. Participants even had the chance to simulate putting out a fire using a fire extinguisher! These hands-on experiences are what make Working Wednesdays so impactful.
We’re proud of our growing community partnerships and are currently collaborating with Josh across all departments to promote fire safety practices throughout Martin County. We’re also seeking counterparts in St. Lucie and Okeechobee Counties to expand this important work.
