Celebrating Our Marshall E. Rinker Sr. Family Foundation Neighborhood Foster Care Cottage Ribbon Cutting!

On Monday, September 23rd, Place of Hope celebrated the grand opening of our new Marshall E. Rinker Sr. Neighborhood Foster Care Cottages at our Bender Family Campus in Stuart with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This event marked a significant milestone in providing a safe, nurturing home for foster siblings in dire need of stability and care.

This new cottage is part of Place of Hope’s ongoing efforts to offer high-quality, family-style foster care environments. Community members, donors, and local leaders joined the event to support the expansion of services for vulnerable children and families.

Place of Hope continues to lead the way in providing essential resources for foster care, prevention, and education. These new cottages represent another step forward in their mission to break the cycle of child abuse, neglect, and homelessness.

Place of Hope In The News

Place of Hope Discusses What Organized Crime, P. Diddy and Jeffery Epstein Have in Common

In a recent interview, Place of Hope’s Director of Advancement & Communications, Jamie Bond, shed light on the increasing sophistication of organized crime in human trafficking. As she discussed with local news, many people often think of trafficking as random acts like smuggling or kidnapping, but high-profile cases like those of Jeffrey Epstein and P. Diddy reveal a much more intricate operation.

“Traffickers do not just target street-based prostitution or vulnerable people in obvious settings; they have the resources and networks to exploit any vulnerable population,” said Bond.

The discussion highlighted the use of coercion, blackmail, and control tactics traffickers employ to keep victims trapped in their influence. Bond emphasized how traffickers build trust with their victims before exploiting them, a process that is not easily escaped. The interview also touched on how high-profile cases make it harder for survivors to come forward due to the fear of not being believed and the overwhelming power and influence of the perpetrators.

Place of Hope remains at the forefront of fighting human trafficking through prevention, education, and rehabilitation. Bond stressed the importance of education, particularly in schools, where young boys and girls can be taught how to protect themselves from being groomed or exploited.

“Education is fundamentally critical in preventing grooming and exploitation. The more we know, the better we can protect our communities,” Bond said.

Inspiring Hope at Our Junior Career Day!

For many foster youth, life before arriving at Place of Hope, was a constant battle for survival. Finding food, safety, and stability were their primary concerns, leaving little room for dreams or aspirations. But Place of Hope’s Junior Career Day gave these children a glimpse of what their futures could hold—a future where they can thrive, not just survive.

Throughout the day, local professionals shared their time and expertise, offering the children hands-on experiences across a variety of fields. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office showcased their Bomb Squad, Mounted Unit, Marine Unit, and more, teaching the children that law enforcement is about service and protection. Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue introduced the kids to the courage required to be a firefighter, while Loggerhead Marine Life taught them about marine biology and environmental conservation, showing them the vital role they could play in protecting the planet.

The Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Coast Team provided a hands-on drilling experience, introducing the children to trade careers and the satisfaction of building something tangible. Educator Jennifer Arrington sparked the children’s curiosity with interactive science experiments, demonstrating how careers in science and innovation can shape the world. Reflecting on the significance of the day, Place of Hope’s Director of Education and Enrichment, Rebekah Bentley, shared, “It was a great way to send the kids back to school inspired about their futures!”

The day ended with joy and laughter, as the children enjoyed a foam party courtesy of East Coast Inflatables, capping off a day filled with inspiration and hope. Junior Career Day at Place of Hope gave our kids the opportunity to dream about what their lives could become, showing them that opportunities are within their reach. Events like these help Place of Hope continue its mission of breaking the cycles of poverty, abuse, and neglect for this generation and those to come.

Join Joy at our October 26th Saturday Serve!

Every Saturday, our team and volunteers come together for Saturday Serve drives, where we help distribute essential items such as food, clothing, and other necessities to families and children in need. These drives are a crucial part of Place of Hope’s work, with a strong focus on our Shade Tree Family Outreach Program. This program is dedicated to supporting families who are navigating the foster care system, facing homelessness, or dealing with the challenges of child welfare.

The Shade Tree Family Outreach Program collaborates with local organizations to ensure that families are not only provided with material resources but also receive the support they need to regain stability. The program helps foster parents, caregivers, and youth transitioning out of foster care by connecting them with vital services, emotional support, and guidance to build stronger, healthier futures. These efforts play an essential role in preventing crises before they happen and helping families avoid situations that may put children at risk.

Each Saturday Serve event is more than just a moment to give back—it is an opportunity to be part of something bigger. The impact of your involvement helps families regain hope and take steps toward brighter futures. Every week, we witness the difference these drives make in the lives of those we serve, and it is all possible thanks to the continued support of our community.

Leaving A Legacy

As we face the challenges of the future, it is the generosity of supporters like you that will make all the difference in the lives of children and families in South Florida.
You recognize the importance of breaking the cycles of abuse, homelessness, poverty, food insecurity, and human trafficking in our local communities.

"You can see the difference you make in the lives of these youth. Their stories and testimonies are eye-opening," Peter and Susan Brockway shared. "Place of Hope provides a safe place to live, a sanctuary where children are protected. Without that security, they would be focused on survival, rather than building a future through education or work."

Creating your estate plan—a thoughtful one that considers both your passions and your possessions—is a vital step for everyone. It allows you to extend your charitable legacy while avoiding unnecessary taxes. By joining with others, like the Brockways, who believe in offering children a secure environment where they can reach their full potential, you help ensure a brighter future for those in need.
