Indian River County Permit System — Current Status
Indian River County is considering another change to its permit system, approximately three years after the county made its previous change. TCBA is opposed to this change, because the last time they made a change it was taking up to 6 months to get a basic permit.
Deb has been working to encourage the county not to make another change, although progress has been limited. One recent success was getting the item removed from last week’s consent agenda from the County’s commission meeting.
A public meeting was scheduled for Thursday at 3:00 p.m. However, when Deb arrived, she learned that the meeting had been moved to 2:30 p.m. and relocated to a different training room. There had been no notice of the change and the meeting was already over.
The county’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday at 11:00 a.m.
At this point, the county has narrowed its options to two systems: IMS and GovWell. One concern with GovWell is that it does not work with the county’s existing credit-card system, which could create an additional issue that would need to be addressed.
Deb has also requested meetings with County Commissioners John Tikanich and Deryl Loar to discuss the proposed change and TCBA’s concerns. As of now, she has not received a response from either. We will keep you posted. |

TCBA has again partnered with Strategic Value Media to produce the 2027 edition of the Member Directory. A representative from SVM may contact members by phone or email about enhancing their listing. This outreach is legitimate and part of the partnership.
