Neighborhood Cleanup
Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026
The City of Stuart is gearing up for the next Neighborhood Cleanup, this one for Windemere, The Pines, and Bahama Terrace, on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
During the event, City sanitation trucks will cruise through the neighborhoods collecting all the big, bulky, “I’ve-been-meaning-to-throw-that-out” items—everything from old furniture and appliances to yard waste and miscellaneous junk. Just place your items curbside and voilà! Pick-up is free during this special cleanup window.
And we’re not stopping there. The Martin County HazMobile will be stationed at the host site on Windemere Drive—right at the front entrance of The Pines off Jensen Beach Boulevard. This is your chance to safely drop off household hazardous waste like paints, oils, and cleaners. Got outdated electronics gathering dust? Bring those too! Recycling has never been easier.

Constitution Week: Celebrating America's Founding Document
Each year, Constitution Week commemorates the historic signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787. Observed annually from September 17, recognized as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, through September 23, this week serves as a reminder of the enduring principles of democracy, freedom, and civic responsibility that continue to shape our nation.
The City of Stuart's Annual Reading of the U.S. Constitution began eight years ago as a vision of former Mayor Eula Clarke, who sought to bring the community together in honoring this foundational document. The inaugural reading was held at the 10th Street Community Center and featured an inspiring combination of community leaders and youth participants from the East Stuart Youth Initiative, reflecting the importance of passing civic knowledge from one generation to the next.
In 2024, the event found a new home in the distinguished John F. and Rita M. Armstrong Room at the Martin County Blake Library. During the reading, the Constitution is divided into 41 individual reading sections, allowing volunteers from all walks of life to participate in this meaningful civic tradition. The full reading takes approximately one hour to complete.

International Coastal Cleanup Saturday, Sept 19
The 2026 International Coastal Cleanup is on September 19! The International Coastal Cleanup is a popular, fun and highly visible event in Martin County. Held on the third Saturday of September each year and spearheaded by the Ocean Conservancy, the International Coastal Cleanup is the most recognized cleanup event in the world.
Hundreds of thousands of people across the globe come together on the same day to remove trash and debris from beaches and waterways. The event creates international visibility, raises public awareness about poor waste management practices, and inspires people to become better stewards of our environment.
The purpose of the cleanup is to engage people around the world, to identify the sources of the litter, and to change the behaviors that cause pollution.
Keep Martin Beautiful is the local coordinator of the International Cleanup. Each year, thousands of volunteers in Martin County beautify our beaches and coastlines by removing unsightly debris. We are also able to help protect birds and marine life by reducing the likelihood that these innocent creatures will become injured or entangled in plastics or ingest deadly debris.
Volunteers are always needed and are provided with trash bags, gloves, and other cleanup supplies.
We encourage volunteers to make even more of an impact by using the Clean Swell Reporting App! This Ocean Conservancy app allows you to:
