Our Children Are Not For Sale

   

Human trafficking does not always look like what we think it will. It is often hidden in plain sight, and the lives being taken are the lives of innocent children.   In 2024, there were more than 700,000 victims of human trafficking in Florida. 200,000 of them were victims of sex trafficking. Half of those were children.   Behind every one of those numbers is a person. A boy. A girl. Someone's child.   Florida is one of the top three worst states in the country for reported human trafficking cases. That is not a distant problem. This is a problem happening in our county, to children who go to school down the road from us. This is why we are fighting human trafficking. We close that gap first, with safe housing, counseling, education, and the proper support for real recovery.   Since our founding, we have walked thousands of children through that recovery. Not moved them through a system like traditional foster care, but walked alongside them. Children who arrived with nothing and left with a diploma, a job, and a safe family.   That work is funded by the people who show up for it.   Join us on December 1st for Light in the Shadows, our anti-trafficking luncheon, where we focus on prevention, protection, and recovery for children in Palm Beach County.

In late August, we joined Operation Statewide Shield, a coordinated recovery effort alongside the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Victim Services, and the Florida Human Trafficking Victims Fund to bring these children out of trafficking and exploitation.   The seat you fill at our events. The gift you write. The hours you volunteer. The Christmas presents you drop off for a child who has never had them. What Does Education & Enrichment Look Like?

 

One of our main priorities is creating education and enrichment for the children and residents who come through our doors.   Here is what that looks like: ·     Academic support and tutoring ·     Leadership and job training opportunities ·     Special career days ·     Alumni stories of success ·     Workshops that focus on various skills from creating art to financial literacy ·     Scholarships and mentorship   Through our Excel Leadership Institute, our youth also work directly with business leaders in this community for career education and mentorship.   We blend creative programming with structured life skills training to create well-rounded experiences that lead to real independence.   The goal is not just to graduate. It is for our young people to graduate with a plan, a real skill set, and the confidence to live independently.
