Honoring Our Heroes: Patriot Day Bridge Walk
On September 11, Stuart Fire Rescue was honored to be joined by the Stuart Police Department, fellow firefighters from Rural Metro and Palm Beach County, and a member of the NYPD who was at Ground Zero, along with City Commissioners, staff, and many members of the public for a powerful Patriot Day tribute.
Together, participants marched 3.43 miles across the Roosevelt Bridge and back—one mile for every hundred of the 343 firefighters who gave their lives on September 11, 2001. Along the way, we also paused to remember the 71 law enforcement officers, 8 paramedics, and 55 military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.
This walk was more than just miles—it was a moving display of unity, reflection, and respect. Thank you to everyone who stood with us in remembrance and helped ensure that the legacy of these heroes lives on.

Honoring America's Foundation: Public Reading of the U.S. Constitution
Each year, September 17–23 is celebrated nationwide as Constitution Week, commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 and recognizing its enduring role as the foundation of our freedoms.
Constitution Week was officially established in 1956 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed into law a congressional resolution championed by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Since then, Presidents have continued the tradition of proclaiming Constitution Week to honor this historic document.
The DAR marks the occasion through bell ringing ceremonies at 4 p.m. on Constitution Day, proclamations, and community events designed to remind us of our duty to protect, preserve, and understand the Constitution. These efforts encourage all citizens to reflect on the historical events that shaped our nation and the principles that continue to guide us today.
The City of Stuart invites you to join us in celebrating this important week at the Annual Public Reading of the United States Constitution:
Thursday, September 18, 2025
3:00 p.m.
John F. and Rita M. Armstrong Room, Blake Library
2351 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, FL 34996
If you would like to participate as a reader in this patriotic event, please call (772) 288-5340 or email jtharp@ci.stuart.fl.us . A script will be provided.

DISASTER PREPARENDNESS
Why Every Home Needs an Inventory—and How to Create Yours Today
In the wake of a natural disaster, fire, or theft, the last thing you want to worry about is trying to remember every item you owned. A home inventory can be a lifesaver—literally and financially—when it comes to filing insurance claims, recovering losses, or simply getting your life back on track.
What Is a Home Inventory?
A home inventory is a detailed record of your personal belongings, including descriptions, purchase dates, serial numbers, and estimated values. It can be as simple as a spreadsheet or as advanced as a digital app with photos and receipts.
Why It Matters
• Faster Insurance Claims: Having a ready-made list helps you file claims quickly and accurately.
• Proof of Ownership: Photos and receipts provide evidence that you owned the items.
• Accurate Coverage: It helps ensure your insurance policy covers the full value of your belongings.
• Peace of Mind: You’ll feel more secure knowing you’re prepared for the unexpected.
How to Create a Home Inventory
(1) Start Small
Begin with one room or category (like electronics or jewelry) to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
(2) Document Everything
For each item, record:
✔ Item name and description
✔ Brand and model
✔ Serial number (if applicable)
✔ Purchase date and price
✔ Where you bought it
✔ Attach receipts or appraisals if available
(3) Take Photos or Videos
Visual documentation is powerful. Walk through your home with your phone, narrating as you go.
(4) Use Technology
Consider apps like Sortly, HouseBook, Supplies or your insurance provider’s own tools to organize and store your inventory digitally. Microsoft also has a free home inventory template you can use and customize. Link HERE.
(5) Store It Safely
Keep a copy in the cloud, on a USB drive in a fireproof safe, or with a trusted friend or family member.
(6) Update Regularly
Add new purchases and remove items you no longer own. Set a reminder to review your inventory annually.
Bonus Tip: Don’t Forget the Garage and Attic
These often-overlooked spaces can hold high-value items like tools, sports equipment, and seasonal décor. Be thorough!
