| Dear Fellow Floridian, Right now, America’s foreign adversaries see a loophole in our immigration system to exploit birthright citizenship. It’s called birth tourism. Last year, I introduced the Stopping Adversarial Foreign Exploitation of Kids in Domestic Surrogacy (SAFE KIDS) Act to prevent adversarial nations, including Communist China, from using American surrogates to obtain U.S. citizenship for their children and traffic infants abroad. This practice results in horrific abuse of infants and children; it also puts our national security at risk from adversarial nations that want to harm us. Recently in St. Augustine, Florida, a surrogate mother birthed triplets for a man in Communist China. Nearly two years later, the children still haven’t been picked up, and the mother is fighting for custody. The Chinese father won’t show, but he’s fighting them in court. This is the reality of birth tourism; the kids are caught in the middle. What’s most insane about this case is that prospective parents don’t even need to set foot on American soil to exploit birthright citizenship. That’s unacceptable. I’m fighting to close this loophole so we can protect these children and American citizenship for generations to come. Read my full op-ed HERE. Sincerely, ![]() Rick Scott United States Senator To be the first to find out about Senator Scott's actions and statements, follow him on X, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. — |

‘Grave Concerns:’ Chairman Rick Scott Demands Answers on New York AG Letitia James’ Failure to Prosecute Medicaid Fraud
U.S. Senate Aging Committee Chairman Rick Scott demanded New York Attorney General Letitia James provide the public with answers on the plummeting number of state Medicaid fraud convictions and the lack of accountability for fraudsters who steal taxpayer-funded resources or providers who abuse or neglect patients. Chairman Rick Scott said, “You were sworn in as the New York Attorney General in January 2019. In the years immediately following, the New York [Medicaid Fraud Control Unit]'s performance fell off a cliff: fraud convictions dropped from 56 in 2019 to just 14 in 2020, and patient abuse and neglect convictions collapsed from 30 to 4 over that same period… “New York's Medicaid beneficiaries, many of whom are seniors who cannot advocate for themselves, deserve an Attorney General that treats their safety as seriously as it treats high-profile civil litigation. I look forward to your prompt response and expect this matter to receive the urgency it demands.” Read more HERE. Read the full letter HERE. — |
