Rep. Toby Overdorf Announces Candidacy for Florida Senate District 31

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 7, 2025

PALM CITY, Fla. — State Representative Toby Overdorf today announced his candidacy for the Florida Senate, seeking to represent District 31, which includes Martin and parts of St. Lucie counties. The seat is currently held by Senator Gayle Harrell, who, after a distinguished career of public service, is term-limited at the end of the 2028 term.

“Senator Harrell has been a steady voice for our community, our environment, and our way of life,” said Overdorf. “I’m grateful for her leadership and look forward to building on the foundation she’s established for the Treasure Coast.”

A longtime business owner, environmental consultant, and community leader, Overdorf has earned a reputation as a fighter for conservative values, economic opportunity, and public safety. In the Florida House, he led efforts to rein in the abhorrent criminal enterprise of human trafficking, giving hope to victims caught in a dark and dangerous world.

Overdorf’s legislative record reflects his deep roots in the Treasure Coast. He has championed water quality improvements, job creation, workforce education, property insurance reforms, and government accountability. His work on eliminating bureaucratic red tape and cutting outdated regulations earned bipartisan praise and was signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this year.

“I’ve seen firsthand how conservative, commonsense leadership makes a difference for families and small businesses,” said Overdorf. “In the Senate, I’ll continue fighting for the Treasure Coast — putting Florida First, America First, and always standing up for our values.”

Overdorf credited his time in the Florida House with sharpening his leadership and deepening his understanding of the issues facing Florida’s communities. “Serving in the House has been an incredible honor, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together. Now it’s time to take that experience and help lead in the next chapter for our region and our state.”

Toby and his wife Maggie live in Palm City, where they recently became proud grandparents.
