The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Research Coast region (Indian River, Martin, and St. Lucie counties) was 4.6 % in June 2025. This rate was 0.5 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 4.1 percent. The region’s June 2025 unemployment rate was 0.7 percentage point above the state rate of 3.9 percent.
The labor force was 309,826, up 1,891 (+0.6 percent) over the year.
There were 14,245 unemployed residents in the region.
Port St. Lucie Metro Area
In June 2025, nonagricultural employment in the Port St. Lucie MSA rose to 176,600, reflecting an increase of 3,900 jobs (+2.3%) over the year. The metro area outpaced the statewide growth in several industries, including Information (+7.7%), Education and Health Services (+4.3%), and Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+3.6%), the latter having the fastest job growth rate among all Florida metro areas. Port St. Lucie also ranked second statewide in Information industry growth. Job gains were led by Education and Health Services (+1,400), Trade, Transportation, and Financial Activities (-100) experienced losses.
