Proposed Property Tax Amendment

A proposed constitutional amendment related to Florida property taxes will appear on the November 2026 General Election ballot. If approved by at least 60% of Florida voters, the changes would take effect January 1, 2027.

In an effort to provide our residents with information to aid them in making their decision, we thought we would share some resources with you. The first two resources provided by my office are a printable handout that explains the amendment in detail and an estimated revenue impact analysis report we provided to Martin County’s ten (10) taxing authorities. To view these resources, use the buttons below.

The third resource is a link to the State of Florida’s “Save Our Homes Tax Savings Estimator”. This is for informational purposes and provides an estimate of ad valorem tax savings for the 2025 tax year for homesteaded property owners if the Save Our Homes proposal had been in effect. That site is www.saveourhomesfl.com

The Martin County Property Appraiser’s office does not advocate for or against any ballot measure. Voters should review all resources available to them so they can make an informed decision.

Martin County Taxable Value Increases
6.38% to $41.8 Billion

The Martin County Property Appraiser’s Office submitted the 2026 Preliminary Tax Roll to the Florida Department of Revenue (FDOR) for approval. The FDOR is a state agency responsible for the oversight and in-depth auditing of our tax roll data. These audits ensure that all State statutes are followed as well as confirming that the data meets the highest level of accuracy.

Martin County's ten taxing authorities will now use these values to prepare their upcoming budgets and determine their proposed millage rates.
