ENDING TAX-PAYER FUNDED ANIMAL ABUSE

Joseph -
No animal should ever suffer in the name of science. It’s unnecessary and unacceptable. And now, thanks to this Administration’s push to stop wasteful government spending, the Department of the Navy has stopped all testing on cats and dogs.
Yesterday, Secretary of the Navy, John Phelan, announced that these inhumane experiments will finally end. Not only will the Navy end the suffering, but they will review ALL of their research programs to make sure they remain ethical. It builds on another big win we had earlier this month, when the National Institutes of Health (NIH) shut down the last laboratory using tax dollars to conduct deadly experiments on beagles. The fact that any U.S. government agency used our tax dollars for this kind of abuse is appalling, but this is a huge victory for animal lovers everywhere.
It’s hard to imagine how anyone could justify these atrocities on innocent animals, especially in light of significant technological advances that have made it possible for us to conduct research without testing on cats and dogs. Thankfully, under President Trump’s leadership, there’s been a government-wide push for oversight and efficiency, and as a result, we’ve finally terminated unnecessary experiments on animals in places like the Department of Defense.
I will continue fighting to see that your tax dollars never fund animal abuse.
