ICYMI: MY CONVERSATION WITH LARA TRUMP ON THE MEDAL OF SACRIFICE

Joseph -
For the families of those who have lost a loved one in the line of duty, there’s nothing that can be done to repay their sacrifice. But now, thanks to President Trump, there’s a way to recognize the immense loss felt by these families and share the gratitude of our nation: the Medal of Sacrifice. The first-of-its-kind honor was bestowed upon three families from Palm Beach County earlier this month, and I had the privilege to join them in the Oval Office.
We then sat down with Lara Trump to share memories of the fallen officers and discuss my bill, the Medal of Sacrifice Act. If you weren’t able to catch it when it aired, I hope you’ll take a moment to watch, and join me in thanking these families.

For Denise Waller, widow of fallen Deputy Ralph Waller, and Cameron Paez, son of fallen Corporal Luis Paez, this is about more than a ceremony or medal. It’s about remembering their loved ones, and it’s restoring a culture that replaces words with action.
But my bill, the Medal of Sacrifice Act, still has to pass through Congress, and I’d say to every one of my colleagues who will have the opportunity to vote on it, I am not sure there will ever be a more meaningful piece of legislation than one that honors our law enforcement. I could not think of anything more honorable to vote for.
Our safety is earned and preserved by the blood and sacrifice of our law enforcement and the families who they leave behind; I will always back the blue.
