House Takes Important Step Toward Permanent Tax Relief
Senate can deliver on driving faster economic growth.
The U.S. House of Representatives sent a clear message this week by passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act: American workers and businesses want and need permanent tax relief.
  • This legislation would help grow the economy, raise wages, support local businesses, drive innovation, and improve the lives of Americans by extending crucial tax reforms from President Donald Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Why it matters: Pro-growth tax policy drives faster economic growth, which means more money in Americans' pockets and stronger communities.

  • Americans are on the brink of a massive automatic tax hike, with many tax law provisions set to expire at the end of this year.

Local impact: Smart tax policy works. The 2017 law spurred local businesses to invest in American workers and communities.

  • “I was able to purchase a truck that tripled my daily output after a couple years of saving up the money we had leftover as a result of the 2017 Tax Cuts for small business,” said Dick Cardew, founder of Cardew Hay Co, in Litchfield Park, Arizona. “This has led to higher revenues, profits, and efficiency in my small business.”

Under the House-passed bill, many small and pass-through businesses would benefit from a permanent—and higher—qualified business income deduction. They would pay less in federal taxes, allowing them to reinvest in their workers, buy more equipment, and expand operations. See how increasing the qualified business income deduction would impact businesses in your community.

What we’re doing: For more than a year, we have been leading an all-out advocacy blitz to support pro-growth tax policy. By hosting over two dozen in-district roundtables with lawmakers and local business leaders around the country as part of a comprehensive advocacy campaign, the U.S. Chamber is rallying Americans to urge Congress to pass permanent tax reform.
  • Your voice matters: Share your story with the U.S. Chamber and show elected officials how this tax policy helps your family, business, and community.

What’s next: The bill moves to the Senate, where the U.S. Chamber will continue advocating for pro-growth tax policy that every American needs.
