$1 Million Recovery in Premises Liability Case, Lesser Law Firm Celebrates 99 Years & More

CASE RESULT

$1 Million Recovery for Client Injured
in Premises Liability Case

Firm Partner Joe Landy recently obtained a $1,000,000 settlement for a client who was injured in a trip and fall at a retail establishment. Our client was minding her own business while walking through a store when a substance on the floor caused her to trip and fall. She sustained injuries that required surgery.

The defendant was served with a demand letter but chose to ignore it. Joe aggressively litigated the case and moved it forward toward trial. During depositions, Joe obtained devastating admissions from the defendant’s employees, which significantly strengthened the case and increased the pressure on the defense.

As a result of the litigation and the testimony obtained, the defense settled the case shortly before trial for $1,000,000.

The Lesser Family: A Legal Legacy in West Palm Beach

Florida Weekly Reporter Garry Overbey interviewed Managing Partner Gary Lesser for a feature story on the Foundational Families of South Florida. As Overbey wrote, "These stories are a window into South Florida's history. They reveal how - one brick, one plank of wood and one generation at a time - families built the foundations of our communities and continue to shape their structure today."

The Lesser Family is one of those families. Here is an excerpt from the article:

Joseph “Joe” Lesser was a lawyer in Rome, Georgia, when a friend told him about a real estate boom in West Palm Beach: “Everyone’s becoming a millionaire.” But as soon as Lesser moved his family to the burgeoning city in 1926, the boom went bust. So he opened a legal practice the following year.

“He was an old country lawyer, and he would help anyone who walked in the door,” Gary Lesser said.
If he believed a client couldn’t pay his fee, he’d ask for a fraction of it. Farmers sometimes paid him in corn.

ATTORNEY MILESTONE
Then and now...30 years ago, Glenn Siegel graduated from law school at Nova Southeastern University and celebrated with his friend and classmate Mike Baxter.

Today, the two are partners at Lesser, Landy, Smith & Siegel, PLLC.

Not everyone keeps the same friends for 30 years. Even fewer end up practicing law together.

Congratulations to Glenn on 30 years with The Florida Bar! Mike celebrates the same anniversary later this year.  We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and the journey that came with it.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
"Words cannot express the gratitude I have for Glenn Siegel of Lesser, Landy, Smith and Siegel.
Our first time working with Glenn was four years ago after my wife was hit from behind. Glenn took incredible care of her making sure she had the best medical attention and she received a great settlement to cover her pain and suffering.
Six months ago, I was rear-ended on the way to work, and we once again reached out to Glenn and we had the same incredible results as my wife’s case.
Glenn was there the entire time for my wife and I. He was always just a quick call or text away from helping us with any issues we encountered. He was always checking in with us to keep us abreast of our cases. Glenn is an incredible lawyer, but more important, he is an awesome person. He is very empathetic and caring.
I cannot recommend him enough for the incredible care he took of us during our cases."

Lesser Law Firm Celebrates 99 Years
of Service to Clients and Community

On March 19, we celebrated 99 years of Lesser, Landy, Smith & Siegel under the leadership of Managing Partner Gary Lesser, who continues the legacy first established by his grandfather, Firm Founder Joseph Lesser. When Joe opened the firm nearly a century ago, he built it on a simple but powerful belief: lawyers should stand up for people when they need it most.

For nearly a century, our firm has been dedicated to helping injured clients and their families navigate some of life’s most difficult moments. From serious accidents to life-changing injuries, our attorneys work tirelessly to secure the results our clients need to move forward.

Under Gary’s leadership, that mission remains at the heart of everything we do. Our growth has always been built on referrals and reputation, not advertising. We are grateful to the clients, attorneys, and community members who have trusted us for nearly a century, and we remain honored to stand beside the individuals and families who place their confidence in us.

We are looking forward to our Centennial Celebration in 2027!
