Citizens Police Academy Class of 2026 - It's a Wrap!
The City of Stuart Police Department has wrapped up another fantastic year of the Citizens Police Academy—a hands-on, behind-the-scenes experience that brings residents closer to the work of local law enforcement and to the people behind the badge.
Over several weeks, participants spent time alongside Stuart Police officers, as well as an evening with Stuart Fire Rescue, diving into the day-to-day realities of policing and rescue operations through interactive sessions and real-world demonstrations. From patrol operations and criminal investigations to traffic enforcement, juvenile issues, and court procedures, the academy offered a well-rounded look at how the department serves the community.
A few standout moments included live demonstrations from the K-9 team and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit—giving attendees a front-row seat to the specialized skills and tools used to keep Stuart safe.
Just as important, the program highlighted the department’s commitment to community policing. Through open conversations and candid Q&A sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of how strong relationships, trust, and communication help shape effective public safety.
The Citizens Police Academy is open to adults 18 and older and is offered free of charge. While space is limited, interest continues to grow each year, attracting residents who want to learn more, get involved, and connect with their local police department.
The City of Stuart extends a sincere thank you to all who participated, as well as to the dedicated staff who made the 2026 academy such a meaningful experience. Planning is already underway for next year’s program, so keep an eye out for registration details and consider joining this unique and rewarding community program. |

A Week of Appreciation
If you stepped into a City office this week, you were greeted not just by colorful employee recognition banners, but by something even more meaningful, a spirit of gratitude that could be felt in every hallway. Laughter carried from office to office as teams paused their busy schedules to celebrate one another and the work they do each day.
Throughout the week, department leaders organized a variety of events to recognize the dedication, talent, and commitment of City employees. The celebration began with heartfelt letters of appreciation from the City Commission and the Interim City Manager, setting the tone for a week centered on recognition and thanks.
From shared breakfasts and team lunches to surprise treats and lighthearted activities, each day offered new moments to connect, recharge, and reflect. These small gestures served as a reminder that behind every service the City provides is a group of individuals who care deeply about their community and the people they serve.
To all City employees, thank you for your continued service, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Your work does not go unnoticed, and this week was just a small token of the City’s appreciation for all that you do. |
