Dear Friends,
February has been a busy and productive month here in the district and Tallahassee. As we prepare for the upcoming legislative session, I’ve been meeting with community leaders, advocates, and fellow lawmakers to ensure your voices are heard. Committee weeks have been in full swing, allowing us to lay the groundwork for key legislation that will impact our state.
Beyond policy discussions, I’ve also had the opportunity to attend events across our capital city and the district, connecting with constituents and industry leaders to better understand the challenges and opportunities facing our communities. Your concerns and ideas continue to guide my work, and I’m committed to fighting for solutions that will make a real difference.
As we move into session, I look forward to keeping you updated on the issues that matter most.

My wife, Maggie, and I attended the Moffitt Cancer Ball in Tampa with former Speaker of the House H. Lee Moffitt. What incredible work the center is doing for our state and constituents!
Former State House Rep. Tommy Gregory was recently appointed as the President of The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. Maggie and I were honored to attend his inauguration celebration. This is such an incredible accomplishment for my former colleague and friend. Congratulations, Tommy!
Grace Way Village hosted their Under The Stars event. This is a phenomenal organization that does so much in our community, and Maggie and I loved attending and supporting them at the event.
This month, Florida passed the most aggressive crackdown on illegal immigration in the nation. It came down to a great partnership with Governor DeSantis and the House and Senate!
Throughout February, I had the opportunity to meet with a variety of organizations and constituents in Tallahassee, discussing important issues and preparing for the upcoming legislative session. It’s been a busy and productive month, and I’m grateful for the chance to connect with so many passionate individuals who are working to make a difference.
Here are some moments from my time in the capital—I’m excited to share these with you!
I have the honor of serving as the Alternating Chair of the Joint Administrative Procedures Committee during this legislative session. My fellow legislators and I are proud of the work we have already accomplished for our state and look forward to building on our efforts in the upcoming weeks.
It was wonderful to meet with representatives from One More Child and Florida Baptist Children's Homes.
I also had the honor of meeting with representatives from the Cleveland Clinic to discuss the importance of world class healthcare in Florida.
It was great to meet with Bruce Anderson and the Florida Professional Firefighters. We are grateful for the important work our firefighters do to keep our communities safe.
I had the pleasure of attending the swearing in of Florida's new Attorney General, James Uthmeier. We know he will serve our state well and be a champion for justice.
It was wonderful to have the UF band in front of the Old Historic Capitol to welcome guests to the swearing in of Attorney General Uthmeier.
I had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Florida Apartment Association to my office. I appreciated them taking the time to meet with me!
I was excited to have a team from Alzheimer's Community Care stop by my office to discuss their work and legislative priorities.
I had the opportunity to present some of my bills in committee. I look forward to championing the issues important to our community during the legislative session!
It’s always a fun day at the Capitol when Owlsley swoops in to say "Hello." As an FAU alumni, I love to celebrate FAU Day and show my Owl Pride!
The immigration bill was a hot topic this month. Kate Hussey, a reporter for WPTV, interviewed me to get my take on the bill and our work with the governor.

Straight from Tallahassee, I had a candid conversation with The KC INGRAM Show to discuss some of Florida’s most pressing issues. We talked about the bill to legalize bump stocks, the effort to lower the gun-buying age from 21 to 18, and where we stand on red flag laws.
We also tackled Florida’s rising home insurance costs and what’s being done to bring relief, along with efforts to protect our state’s gopher tortoises. No talking points—just an open, honest discussion about the big legislative battles ahead.

Martin County held its State of the County meeting. Heather, my District Aide, was able to attend and learn more about the incredible things the County is doing.
Constituent Services:
When a constituent of mine experienced a power outage that left him with over $500 worth of spoiled food, he did what any of us would do—he reached out to FPL for help. Unfortunately, his claim for compensation was denied, leaving him frustrated and without answers.
Not knowing where else to turn, John contacted my office to share his situation. My team and I immediately stepped in, reaching out to the Florida Public Service Commission to advocate on his behalf. After working through the issue, FPL reconsidered John’s case and contacted him directly, offering a resolution he was happy with.
This is exactly why my office is here—to help constituents navigate challenges and make sure their voices are heard. If you or someone you know is facing an issue with a state agency or utility provider, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help.
The next several weeks will be very busy for me and my team as the legislative session gets underway, but we are excited about all that we will accomplish for our state and district. Thank you for your continued support and faith in my leadership in Tallahassee! I look forward to sharing with you again soon.
Sincerely,
Rep. Toby Overdorf
