Sens. Rick Scott, Dr. Paul Reintroduce Bill to Improve Transparency on Royalty Payments to Government Employees

Senators Rick Scott and Dr. Rand Paul announced the reintroduction of the Royalty Transparency Act to require disclosure of royalty payments from both government employees and advisory committee members in an effort to increase government accountability. Under current law, federal employees are not required to report the source or amount of royalty payments they receive for their government-related work. This lack of transparency prevents taxpayers from holding individuals accountable within the federal government for conflicts of interest and other abuse. Congressman Morgan Griffith is leading the companion legislation in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said: “I am proud to support the Royalty Transparency Act, ensuring federal employees’ transparency and accountability to the American people. Under current law, bureaucrats like Anthony Fauci and NIH employees were able to receive millions in royalty payments from companies outside the federal government without requirements for reporting, raising serious questions about potential conflicts of interest and fueling distrust in the federal government. Our bill will bring much-needed transparency to these payments by requiring they be publicly reported, helping to hold bureaucrats accountable to the American people and restoring trust in the federal government.”

Sen. Rick Scott Introduces Legislation to Bring Accountability to Broadband Expansion Funds

Senator Rick Scott joined colleagues in the Senate and House of Representatives to introduce the Broadband Buildout Accountability Act. This legislation increases accountability and transparency in our federal government, particularly for the billions of dollars in taxpayer funds allocated for broadband expansion, which has failed to connect a single American to high-speed internet in the last four years. Senators John Barrasso, Marsha Blackburn, John Curtis, Dan Sullivan, Roger Wicker, Todd Young and Jerry Moran are cosponsors in the Senate. Congressmen August Pfluger is leading the legislation in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said: “Americans deserve to know exactly how the government is spending their money and that it’s in their best interests. With President Trump back in office and committed to bringing transparency to the federal government and cutting down on waste, fraud, and abuse, we must act now to finally bring much-needed accountability on how every tax dollar is being spent. Our Broadband Buildout Accountability Act will increase transparency and accountability for a $42 billion grant, intended to bring internet to rural communities but has YET to connect a single individual using those funds in the four years it has existed. That’s a failure to the American people, who expect a return on their dollars. I urge my colleagues to support this bill and make it crystal clear to Americans how their dollars are being spent.”

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sen. Marsha Blackburn and Colleagues in Introducing WHO is Accountable Act

Senator Rick Scott joined Senators Marsha Blackburn, John Barrasso and Ted Cruz to introduce the WHO is Accountable Act. This legislation follows President Trump’s executive order to remove the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), and prevents the United States from rejoining the WHO until clear and transparent accountability reforms are taken by the organization for its actions in caving to the interests of the Chinese Communist Party at the expense of the United States. Congressman Jodey Arrington is leading this companion legislation in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said: “I'm glad to see President Trump demanding accountability from the WHO by withdrawing federal funds and U.S. membership, which is long overdue. This is an organization that clearly doesn't care about American families, evidenced by working hand-in-hand with the Chinese Communist Party to cover up COVID, putting Americans' lives at risk. Our bill will make clear the United States will not rejoin or commit tax dollars to the corrupt WHO until we are certain it aligns with America's interests over Communist China's."

Sen. Rick Scott Leads Legislation to Cut Unnecessary Government Red Tape

Senators Rick Scott, Ron Johnson and James Lankford announced the introduction of the Regulatory Decimation Act. This will rein in the administrative state by requiring federal agencies to repeal ten existing regulations prior to issuing a new one and ensuring the cost of any new regulation does not exceed the ones repealed. Congressman Dave Taylor is leading the legislation in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said: “The federal government has grown exponentially during the four years of the Biden administration, with hundreds of thousands of federal regulations costing Americans $1.9 TRILLION. President Trump and DOGE are committed to streamlining government to make it work better for the American people, and every agency should follow suit and cut waste and red tape within their own walls. It’s time to refocus our federal government and its agencies to be good stewards of American tax dollars and working better for the American people by passing the Regulatory Decimation Act to hold agencies accountable.”
