Rep. Toby Overdorf - Seventh Week of Session

Happy Friday Everyone!

Seven weeks down, two more to go… From advancing key bills out of committee to meeting with constituents, community leaders, and local advocates, my focus remains on delivering practical solutions that strengthen our economy, support working families, and ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Your voices continue to guide my work at the Capitol, and I am grateful for the opportunity to represent you.

It’s hard to believe that we are already more than halfway done with the session, but I couldn’t be prouder of our progress. Here are some pictures I have to share with you all:
I was grateful for the opportunity to appear on Fox News to highlight our priorities on Property Tax legislation and progress with Garret Wymer on Fox35 Orlando.

Children’s week was a lively couple of days. Storybook Village was a highlight, where I had the chance to read ‘Not a Box’ to local elementary school children!
This week I appeared on the air for cursive writing and its importance in our Education System.
Alison Dudley and her wonderful team from Building Owners and Managers Association of Florida (BOMA) invited me for a property tax talk on how the proposed legislation would affect commercial properties. Thank you for your time and discussions!
On Wednesday I quickly jumped committees to present HB 951: "One Cent Piece" with Rep. McFarland. I’m proud to be a Prime Co-sponsor on this wonderful bill and the ability we've had to add our two cents into the conversation.
Leadership Highlands made their way to Tallahassee for their annual tour of the Capitol and I was happy to give them the most current updates on the process and what they can watch out for.
Walking by the hallway I noticed a couple new pictures hung up, and I was so awed to recognize a frame from one of my favorite moments of my legislative career. This picture was taken during the 2020 session when I introduced an amendment to rename legislation pertaining to Shark Finning to the “Kristin Jacobs Conservation Act”.

Till this day our waters are reaping the benefits of the impact Rep. Jacobs had on our environment. Her legacy touched the northern boundary of the Biscayne National Park to our hometown St. Lucie Inlet.
Here is HB 1457: "Storm Water Treatment" being presented by Rep. Gonzalez-Pittman and I. This was a bittersweet moment as it is the last bill I am presenting in any committee for 2026! Everything passed is now on the house floor.
The legend, George McArthur. Treasure Coast Senior Softball League is one of my favorite events, thank you for my shirt, I look forward to playing together soon!
It was great meeting with Keiser University, where they graciously awarded me as a Distinguished Leader. Thank you for all of your work and partnership.
Had a great talk with this great group of Florida-based University pediatric students on children's health in schools.
