Dear Fellow Floridian,
President Trump has been in office for less than a month, and we've already seen incredible progress toward making America great again, securing our border and delivering on his promises to the American people. As I fight to help the President enact his America-first agenda and make Washington work for you, I wanted to provide an update on our progress:
This week, Senate Republicans continued our fight to get every one of President Trump's nominees confirmed. Although Democrats did everything they could to obstruct and delay the votes, we were able to confirm Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Health and Human Services Director Robert Kennedy Jr. and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. We also successfully passed Trump's nominee to run the FBI, Kash Patel, out of committee to get him one step closer to confirmation. I'm confident Trump's team has the best interests of Florida families and our country in mind, and they're already doing a great job reversing the reckless policies of the last four years.
It’s been incredible to see President Trump's team working to hold the federal government accountable and make sure every taxpayer dollar is used wisely, that’s more needed than ever before. President Trump, Elon Musk and the team at DOGE are doing exactly what the American people want and expect by cutting waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government. As a founding member of the Senate DOGE Caucus, I'm fighting every day to support this mission, as well as ensure President Trump has the support he needs to enact his agenda of securing the border, cutting taxes and putting the nation on a path for a balanced budget and fiscal sanity.
We're ushering in America's golden age, and we're just getting started!
Sincerely,

Sens. Rick Scott & Ashley Moody Honor Victims Ahead of Anniversary of the Tragic Shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
Ahead of the seventh anniversary of the tragic shooting that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the United States Senate unanimously passed the commemorative resolution filed by Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody honoring the 17 innocent lives lost on February 14, 2018.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Seven years ago, 17 beautiful lives were taken far too soon by a senseless attack in Parkland, Florida. Every year, this day holds a heavy place in our hearts as we remember the students and educators whose lives were cut short by pure evil. I often think of them and the bright futures each had ahead. Each time I do, my heart breaks knowing they were robbed of the opportunity to live their dreams, and I pray for their families still living with the unimaginable loss and pain of that day that never goes away. I’m thankful to Senator Ashley Moody and all of our colleagues in the Senate for joining me in honoring the memory of these 17 lives lost with the passage of this resolution.”

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sens. John Kennedy & Jerry Moran To Protect Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights
Senator Rick Scott joined Senators John Kennedy and Jerry Moran and 13 of their colleagues to introduce the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act. The bill would prevent veterans from losing their Second Amendment right to purchase or own firearms when they receive help managing their Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits. Senators Chuck Grassley, Steve Daines, Marsha Blackburn, Pete Ricketts, Mike Rounds, Kevin Cramer, Jim Banks, Thom Tillis, Bill Cassidy, John Boozman, Tommy Tuberville, Lisa Murkowski and Tim Sheehy also cosponsored the legislation.

Senator Rick Scott said, “I’m proud to stand with our veterans to ensure equal protection of their rights with the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act. Our veterans have fought to protect our nation and defend our rights, and they deserve to be treated fairly with the same due process under the law.”

Sen. Rick Scott Introduces Bill to End Reliance on Chinese-Made Batteries, Support American Supply Chains
Senators Rick Scott and Maggie Hassan introduced the Decoupling from Foreign Adversarial Battery Dependence Act to reduce American reliance on Chinese-made batteries and address the national security concerns regarding cybersecurity, supply chain disruptions, and domestic manufacturing of this technology. Specifically, this legislation would prohibit the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from procuring batteries from six specific companies owned and operated in Communist China. Congressman Carlos Gimenez is leading this legislation in the House of Representatives.
Senator Rick Scott said, “America is entering its Golden Age with President Trump back in the White House, and that means prioritizing American manufacturing and self-reliance. Communist China is doing everything it can to achieve global dominance and is willing to harm Americans and businesses, manipulate our supply chains and breach our cybersecurity in the process. With our nation currently sourcing a majority of its batteries from Chinese-linked manufacturers, we’re subject to a major, unnecessary risk to our national security. I am proud to introduce the Foreign Adversarial Battery Dependence Act to help secure our national security and take a stand against Communist China looking to take advantage of American consumers. I look forward to this critical legislation becoming law.”

Sens. Rick Scott & Alex Padilla Introduce Bill to Stop Narcotics Trafficking in the Caribbean
Senators Rick Scott and Alex Padilla introduced the Caribbean Border Counternarcotics Strategy Act to stop the illegal trafficking of deadly drugs in the Caribbean, specifically between Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Florida. This bill builds off prior appropriations report language requiring that a Caribbean Border Counternarcotic Strategy is published by the White House Office of National Drug Policy along with the National Drug Control Strategy, the Southwest Border Counternarcotics Strategy, and the Northern Border Counternarcotics Strategy. This legislation is endorsed by the Governor of Puerto Rico and former Congresswoman Jenniffer González-Colón.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Over the past four years, President Joe Biden’s wide-open border served as an invitation for criminals to bring deadly drugs, like fentanyl, into our communities and kill Americans. The crisis Biden created caused heartbreak, devastation and violence within our communities in Florida, Puerto Rico and across the United States. I’m glad that’s finally coming to an end with President Trump and Secretary Noem leading the charge, who are making great strides to combat illegal immigration and keep these dangerous drugs from coming across our border. Our bill, the Caribbean Border Counternarcotics Strategy Act, will improve our nation’s ability to combat illegal narcotics operations, like fentanyl trafficking, and hold traffickers accountable for the devastation they cause. I’m proud to be joined by my colleague, Senator Alex Padilla, and have the support from the Governor of Puerto Rico, Jenniffer González-Colón, on this effort and urge the House and Senate to get this bill passed quickly.”

Senator Rick Scott Joins Senators Markey and Cruz to Reintroduce Bill to Keep AM Radio in New Vehicles
Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Ed Markey, Senator Ted Cruz and 48 of their Senate colleagues to reintroduce the bipartisan AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. This legislation would direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to require automakers to maintain AM broadcast radio in their new vehicles at no additional charge. AM radio serves as the most reliable and effective form of communication during emergencies. This legislation was recently passed by the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
Senator Rick Scott said, “When hurricanes hit or weather approaches, Floridians rely heavily on AM radio for updates and life-saving messages from their local authorities. I’m proud to join Senators Cruz and Markey on the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act to ensure families in my state and across the nation have access to critical information when they need it most.”
