| Oncology Rehabilitation: Lymphedema |
Approximately 1 in 1000 Americans are affected by lymphedema. The most common cause of lymphedema is the removal of, or damage to lymph nodes as part of cancer treatment. It results from blockage to the lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system. The blockage prevents fluid from draining well, the fluid buildup leads to swelling, called lymphedema. It generally occurs in the arms and legs, but can also be seen in the face, neck, and trunk. This is a common and progressive disease that continues to worsen over time when not treated. While there is no cure, it can be managed with early diagnosis and diligent care.
Join us for an informative discussion and learn about treatment options for lymphedema and how they can improve your quality of life.
