FROM FL-21 TO THE FRONT YARD OF THE U.S. CAPITOL

Joseph -
Year after year, law enforcement officers put on the uniform knowing the extraordinary risk their job carries. And too often, they make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Earlier today, during a Transportation and Infrastructure Committee mark-up, I spoke in strong support for the resolution affirming that we, as a Congress and as a nation, should take the time and space to honor those who commit their lives to protecting our communities.
The resolution allows for the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service to be held on the grounds of the United States Capitol later this year. The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service represents a moment of unity, remembrance, and respect. Allowing it to be held in the Capitol building’s front yard says to every officer and surviving loved one: your service matters, your sacrifice is not forgotten, and a grateful nation thanks you
I know this is a small way to show our support, but it is deeply meaningful for the men and women who we cry out to and who we trust to save us in a crisis. I called on my colleagues to join me and stand with those who protect us—today, tomorrow, and everyday.
