Exceptional Care Begins with a Strong Workforce

February is National Career & Technical Education Month, and it is one we proudly celebrate at Evergreen Private Care.

Career & Technical Education programs give high school students the opportunity to gain practical, job-ready skills while still in school, preparing them for meaningful careers following graduation. In healthcare especially, these programs are essential.

Did you know that healthcare, including home care, is one of the largest private-sector employers in our community? Learn more about why we are passionate about workforce development and CTE programs in my February newsletter blog.

Six Things You Didn't Know About Skilled Nursing in Your Home

By Teri Bullard, BSN, RN, Nurse Administrator

When people hear “skilled nursing,” they often think of hospitals or long-term care facilities. Skilled nursing plays a vital role in helping individuals heal, stay safe, and maintain independence across many settings, including at home.

As Nurse Administrator, I see every day how private duty nursing support can make a meaningful difference for clients and families, often in ways they didn’t realize were possible.

invite you to discover a few things people are often surprised to learn about skilled nursing and home care, and why they matter in my blog.

Questions To Ask Before Hiring a Skilled Nurse

Inviting a home care agency or a skilled nurse into your home is an important decision—one that directly affects safety, comfort, and peace of mind. Many families are unsure what questions to ask or what qualifications truly matter. This blog highlights key questions every family should consider before hiring a skilled nurse, helping you make informed, confident choices about care at home.
Stroke Signs

American Heart Month

February is National Heart Month too! It's a time to focus on heart health and raise awareness about conditions that can have life-altering consequences—including stroke.

Stroke is a medical emergency, and recognizing the warning signs early can save a life and reduce long-term disability.

We encourage our clients, families, and caregivers to learn the signs of stroke and take immediate action if they suspect one. Awareness, preparedness, and fast response can truly make the difference.

REMINDER: Client Surveys, Your Voice Matters!

At Evergreen Private Care, we are deeply grateful for the trust you place in us, and we do not take it for granted. While our goal is always to deliver exceptional service that supports independence, dignity, and quality of life, we know there is always room to do better—and your honest perspective helps us improve.

If you are an active client, please take a few moments to complete this short survey. Your feedback will be thoughtfully reviewed by the leadership team and will help guide us as we continue to learn, improve, and strengthen the care we provide.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your care journey and for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Caregiver Corner & Important Updates

From Compassion to Cuisine

This month, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Joshua, one of our newer caregivers who has already made a remarkable impression.

While male caregivers are in especially high demand among our clients and underrepresented on our roster, Joshua stands out for far more than that.

From the moment he began serving clients, the feedback has been consistent and enthusiastic. Families and clients alike rave about his calm presence, flexibility, and genuine ability to connect.

Whether supporting a complex case, adapting to an ever-changing schedule, or stepping in for clients, approaching every shift with positivity and professionalism.

Partnerships in Action

When client needs began growing in Citrus County, our partners at CareerSource in Marion, Lee, and Citrus counties stepped in without hesitation. Together, we quickly organized a pop-up hiring event to meet the moment and support our elder community. The response was inspiring, more than a dozen attendees joined us, resulting in several strong caregiver applicants ready to serve.

One moment that truly stood out: a newly certified CNA who attended the event the very same day she graduated, arriving in her cap and gown and ready to begin her career in care.

Partnerships like these strengthen our workforce, expand opportunity, and ensure our community continues to receive the compassionate care it deserves.

HOLIDAY POLICY UPDATE

Moving forward, our recognized holidays are: President's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. This replaces our previous holiday schedule and allows for more consistent planning and communication well in advance of each holiday.

Please trust that your Clinical Care Coordinator is always available to answer any questions you may have about this policy, and to help you make arrangements if you require changes to your schedule, ensuring everything is coordinated smoothly.

We appreciate your understanding and partnership, and we thank you again for allowing Evergreen to be part of your care journey. It is a privilege to serve you.
