Dear Fellow Floridian, Growing up, I watched my mom work hard, taking on multiple jobs to make ends meet and put food on the table. We didn't have much, and every single dollar mattered. After four years of Democrats' reckless spending fueling inflation, too many Florida families are in this same spot—working 40+ hours a week while still having to rely on food banks to feed their families. They felt the American dream slipping out of reach. But now, families and our nations have a renewed hope. President Trump is BACK, and Democrats' spending spree is OVER. For years, I've been fighting to stop wasteful spending and rein in the size of government, so we can finally make Washington work better for the American people instead of catering to the whims of the Washington elite. President Trump and his administration are getting right to work reviewing how each and every one of your tax dollars is being spent, cracking down on fraud, waste and abuse in our government and restoring fiscal sanity. Under the former administration, the federal government allowed trillions of dollars to be wasted on ridiculous regulations, rules, inefficiencies and projects at the expense the American people. President Trump is changing the status quo in Washington–just like he promised. Now, it is incumbent on Republicans to work with President Trump to get his team in place and help him continue this great work of ushering America into its Golden Age. I’m proud to be a founding member of the Senate DOGE Caucus, and I am fighting every day to confirm Trump's nominees and enact his America-first agenda. I also introduced legislation this week to protect American tax dollars, rein in big government and codify President Trump’s actions into law. These include:

Sens. Rick Scott and Tim Scott Introduce Bill to Increase Transparency for SBA Disaster Funds Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Tim Scott, along with Senators Ted Budd, Adam Schiff and Marsha Blackburn, to introduce the SBA Disaster Transparency Act, which requires the Small Business Administration to make its monthly reporting requirements for the Disaster Loan Account available to the public. As of 2015, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has followed this transparent reporting model for its Disaster Relief Fund (DRF). Senator Rick Scott said, “The American people have every right to know where their tax dollars are being spent and hold their government accountable. I’m proud to join my colleagues to introduce the SBA Disaster Transparency Act to bring more transparency to the federal government.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sen. Shelley Moore Capito to Protect Taxpayer Dollars from Funding Terrorism Through UN Mismanagement Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Shelley Moore Capito to introduce the Stop Funding Global Terrorists Act, legislation that ensures U.S. taxpayer dollars are not flowing to the Taliban—or to any other terrorist organization—through United Nations (UN) funding to Afghanistan. Specifically, the bill prohibits U.S. contributions to the UN for assistance to Afghanistan until the State Department provides certification to Congress that: (1) no U.S. funds are included in UN cash shipments into Afghanistan; and (2) no Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organization or Foreign Terrorist Organization will receive any funds via such contributions. Additional cosponsors include Senators Tom Cotton, Katie Britt, Bill Cassidy, M.D., Ted Cruz, Marsha Blackburn, Thom Tillis and Tim Scott. Senator Rick Scott said, “The United Nations has an alarming habit of allowing funds to flow to terrorists and bad actors that don't align with the United States’ values and wish to bring harm to the free world. The Stop Funding Global Terrorists Act says that until the United Nations can absolutely ensure that the Taliban and terrorist organizations do not receive a single tax dollar intended for Afghanistan from United States taxpayers, they won’t be getting a single tax dollar. It’s that simple.” Read more HERE. — Sens. Rick Scott & Rand Paul Introduce REINS Act to Put Power Back in the People’s Hands Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Rand Paul to introduce the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act to rein in the administrative state by requiring congressional approval of any major rule proposed by a federal agency. This will put power back in the people’s hands instead of the administrative state, which has grown exponentially and cost businesses and families trillions of dollars over the past four years. Under the Biden administration, the expansion of rules and regulations cost the American people $1.9 TRILLION – more HERE. Senator Rick Scott said, “Over the past four years, the Biden-Harris administration has grossly expanded the federal government, issuing thousands of rules and burdensome regulations that cost taxpayers a whopping $1.9 TRILLION. With President Trump in the White House, it’s time to cut the red tape and get Washington to work for the American people by putting power back in hands of the American people. They deserve to have a voice represented—especially when it comes to how we’re spending trillions of their tax dollars. I am proud to stand with President Trump and my colleagues to rein in big government, hold Washington accountable, stop the wasteful spending and finally bring some fiscal sense back into Congress.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott & Sen. Jim Banks Call on FCC Chairman Carr to Investigate CCP-Linked Advertising During Super Bowl Senator Rick Scott and Senator Jim Banks sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr requesting the FCC investigate foreign entities of concern (FEOCs) that broadcast on U.S. airwaves to determine if those entities pose a significant national security risk to the American public, and use existing FCC authorities to deter future partnerships between FEOCs and television networks. Last year, Temu – a Chinese e-commerce platform with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) – aired three commercials during Super Bowl 2024. Read the full letter HERE. Senator Rick Scott said, “Democrats spent the past four years pushing policies that prioritized radical far-left ideology over merit-based policies throughout our federal government. That’s not what the American people want, and they sure as heck don’t want to be left footing the bill for a woke agenda they don’t believe in. I’m glad to see President Trump work to return our federal government to the meritocracy it should be, and I encourage my colleagues to support our Dismantle DEI Act to codify his actions and make Washington work better for the American people.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott Reintroduces DEMOCRACIA Act Sanctioning Communist Cuban Regime for Human Rights Abuses Senator Rick Scott and Senator Tommy Tuberville announced the reintroduction of the Denying Earnings to the Military Oligarchy in Cuba and Restricting Activities of the Cuban Intelligence Apparatus (DEMOCRACIA) Act to hold the illegitimate communist Cuban regime accountable through severe sanctions and unprecedented financial pressure. Senator Scott led this legislation with Secretary of State Marco Rubio last Congress. Senator Rick Scott said, “Cuba is the root of instability in Latin America and a constant threat to the national security of the United States, only emboldened by the past four years of Biden-Harris appeasement policies. The illegitimate, communist Castro/Díaz-Canel regime harbors terrorist groups, denies freedom and democracy to the Cuban people while providing a secret police force to Maduro to oppress the Venezuelan people, and hosts a Chinese Communist Party spy station 90 miles from Florida. The Cuban regime props up ruthless dictators and allows a foothold in Latin America for Russia, Iran and Communist China to spread their influence. President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have already taken action to hold the Cuban regime accountable, including reversing Biden’s dangerous decision to remove them from the State Sponsor of Terrorism List, but we must keep the pressure going. My DEMOCRACIA Act will build on their efforts by implementing severe sanctions against Communist Cuba and closes existing sanctions gaps. It will also authorize the president to provide unrestricted internet service to the people of Cuba that is not censored by the Cuban regime. The United States continues to stand with the Cuban people, and this bill will send a powerful message as we work to bring a new day of freedom and democracy to Cuba and the entire western hemisphere.” Read more HERE. Tina Smith Introduce Bill to Address Senior Loneliness Senator Rick Scott, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, and Senator Tina Smith announced the reintroduction of the Social Engagement and Network Initiatives for Older Relief (SENIOR) Act to address senior loneliness. Across the country, a growing number of senior citizens are suffering from mental and physical health issues, largely driven by an epidemic of loneliness. Despite public health officials sounding the alarm, the issue has not yet been addressed through any major legislation. Aging Committee member Senator Rafael Warnock joined as a cosponsor of this bill. Chairman Rick Scott said, “Florida is blessed to have a wonderful senior population, and in my state and across the nation, seniors contribute greatly when given opportunities to be active members in their communities. Combatting the feeling of isolation and loneliness for our aging community has endless benefits – from better mental and physical health to stronger, multigenerational relationships with families and communities. As Chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, I’m proud to lead this bill and fight to better support American seniors.” Read more HERE. Lea más en español AQUÍ. — |
