Stuart, FL - The Martin County School District celebrated the exceptional contributions of its educational support staff during the annual School-Related Employee of the Year Ceremony held on December 16, 2024, at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club.
Twenty-seven outstanding employees were recognized for their dedication to fostering student success, with Mr. Joshua Oviedo, an ELL (English Language Learner) Paraprofessional at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School, being named the District’s overall 2024-2025 School-Related Employee of the Year.
Mr. Oviedo, a proud graduate of the Martin County School District, has served as a paraprofessional for the past three years, supporting English Language Learners and students with exceptionalities. Drawing on his own journey as an English learner, he inspires students to embrace challenges and strive for success. His efforts extend beyond the classroom, as he has also coached volleyball and soccer, teaching students the values of teamwork, perseverance, and confidence.
“Joshua Oviedo’s leadership, dedication, and positive influence make him an exceptional role model for our students and a valued member of our District,” Superintendent Michael Maine shared. “His steadfast optimism and commitment to helping others embody the mission of the Martin County School District to ‘educate all students for success.’”
In addition to creating engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to students’ diverse needs, Mr. Oviedo collaborates with teachers, participates in parent engagement nights, and serves as a trusted liaison between schools and families. His meticulous organizational skills enhance the efficiency of the ELL program, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive.
Mr. Oviedo’s name will now be submitted to the Florida Department of Education for consideration in the state-level School-Related Employee of the Year recognition program.
The District extends its congratulations to all site-level winners of the 2024-2025 School-Related Employee of the Year program. These employees exemplify excellence and demonstrate unwavering dedication to supporting their schools and departments.
