Place of Hope's 2nd Annual Light in the Shadows Luncheon on December 5 at Mar-a-Lago was a record-breaking success raising critical funds for our anti-human trafficking and anti-child exploitation initiatives!
Our heartfelt thanks go to our co-chairs, Jill Gallagher and Jordan Brown, as well as our generous sponsors, committee members, and volunteers who committed their time, talent and resources to making this event a resounding success.
We honored The Smith Brothers Family Foundation with our 2nd Annual Place of Hope Connie M. Frankino Child Advocate Award for their exceptional and sustained commitment to supporting children in our community. They have played a vital role in empowering Place of Hope to provide life-changing services, and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing support. It was a privilege to welcome our Keynote Speaker, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody. Attorney General Moody’s dedication to the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation was clear in her remarks, and we are grateful for her leadership in this critical area. She shared: “It is an honor to work alongside organizations like Place of Hope, as we work hard to stop child exploitation and human trafficking in Florida. As Attorney General, it’s my top priority.” Her words emphasize the importance of collaboration in addressing these complex issues, and we are proud to work together with her and other leaders to protect the innocence of our children and youth.
Place of Hope is a statewide leader in the fight against child exploitation and human trafficking, and is on the forefront of prevention, intervention, and awareness. Each year Place of Hope is serving hundreds of children, young adults who have been sexually exploited, trafficked or at-risk of being groomed and exploited and trafficked with high-quality targeted therapy, family-style neighborhood foster care, comprehensive case management, safe and stable affordable transitional housing with an independent living program, education and enrichment opportunities and family strengthening programs. Additionally, we are upstream helping prevent this evil before it can manifest.
“As we continue providing essential care and critical services, we are reminded of the strength and resilience of those we serve. The journey for survivors of human trafficking is filled with immense challenges, but with your support and the grace of God we are paving pathways of restoration and empowerment for them at Place of Hope”- Founding CEO and Board Member, Charles L. Bender
“For 25 years we have witnessed firsthand the nauseating and heart breaking realities of this crime. All the while, we have been and will continue to care for the survivors who come through our doors, as well as care for and help prevent at risk youth from being groomed and being victimized.” – Director of Advancement, Jamie Bond Ciancio
Place of Hope has been recognized by Charity Navigator as the top-rated nonprofit in “Youth Development, Shelter, and Crisis Services” for four years. This achievement reflects the impact of our work, supported by your generosity.
