Community Unites to Gift Vehicle to Beloved Custodian Impacted by Hurricane Milton

December 11, 2024

Stuart, FL - In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Murray Middle School suffered extensive damage, with tornados wreaking havoc on the campus and the surrounding community. Among those profoundly impacted was Israel Cruz, a devoted custodian at Murray Middle School whose family faced tremendous devastation during the storm, including the loss of three vehicles and severe damage to his home.

Moved by Mr. Cruz’s story and his unwavering dedication to the school, the Murray Middle School PTA partnered with a Ascent Church and Wallace Nissan to launch a fundraising initiative to support him. Thanks to their collective efforts, the community raised $9,700 to purchase Mr. Cruz a vehicle.

In a heartwarming gesture of gratitude and support, Mr. Cruz will be surprised with his new vehicle on Wednesday, December 11, at 2:00 p.m., during a special event at Murray Middle School. Staff, PTA members, and representatives from the local church and Wallace Nissan will gather to celebrate and present this meaningful gift to Mr. Cruz, who has become a beloved figure at the school.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Derek Lowe, Coordinator of Public Information & Community Relations.
