Dear Fellow Floridian,
Growing up, I watched my mom struggle to put food on the table for my siblings and me. She worked hard so that we didn’t have to go hungry, but it wasn’t easy. SNAP didn’t exist when I was a kid, but for struggling families today, it can mean the difference between a meal and going to bed hungry. It’s why I’m outraged when I think about Senate Democrats voting 13 TIMES to shut down the government, knowing it means they’re taking away SNAP, Head Start, and other critical programs millions of Florida families rely on, and that it means keeping paychecks away from our troops, federal law enforcement, FAA, and so many others. It’s shameful.
The American people are sick and tired of Democrats putting political games over families, and so am I. I will always fight to do what’s best for Florida families. So while Democrats refuse to fund the government, I’m working tirelessly with my Republican colleagues to reopen the government to pay our troops, federal law enforcement, and FAA, and ensure critical programs like SNAP have the support they need.
Sincerely,

Rick Scott

Sen. Rick Scott Leads Colleagues in Bipartisan Resolution Honoring Nobel Peace Prize Recipient María Corina Machado
Senator Rick Scott led his colleagues in a bipartisan resolution honoring courageous Venezuelan democracy leader María Corina Machado following her recognition with the Nobel Peace Prize. Senator Scott also joined CBS’ 60 Minutes yesterday to discuss how the United States’ support of a free, democratic Venezuela is critical to the safety of our hemisphere.
Senator Rick Scott said, “María Corina is a hero to her people and a true champion for freedom and democracy in Venezuela. Sen. Rick Scott Leads Colleagues in No AliPay Act to Safeguard U.S. National Security, Stop CCP Data Collection

Senator Rick Scott announced the introduction of the No Alipay Act to stop the use of Alipay in the United States, a Chinese digital payment platform, to safeguard America’s national security and protect the personal data of American citizens from exploitation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Alipay collects sensitive personal and financial data from more than a billion users worldwide, making its links to the Communist Chinese Party a serious risk to U.S. consumers, businesses, and infrastructure.
Senator Rick Scott said, “The Chinese Communist Party has made it clear that it will use every tool available to spy on Americans and steal our data, and apps like Alipay are no exception. Americans don’t want their personal and financial information being funneled straight into the hands of the Communist Chinese regime to use against us – it’s a threat to their lives and national security. My No Alipay Act will close another door that could allow a CCP-controlled entity to access our financial systems and spy on U.S. citizens. I’m proud to lead this effort with my colleagues in the Senate, Senators Tuberville and Justice, and Congressman Ogles in the House to keep Americans and their data safe from Communist China.”

Sen. Rick Scott on Senate Floor: Time to ‘Lock the Clock’ with My Sunshine Protection Act
Senator Rick Scott, on the Senate floor, called for the passage of his bipartisan, bicameral Sunshine Protection Act to finally ‘lock the clock’ by making Daylight Saving Time permanent year-round.  As Governor of Florida, Senator Scott signed legislation that would allow the state to remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round, pending federal approval, and has pushed the Sunshine Protection Act to make Daylight Saving Time the nationwide standard while giving states the right to opt-out. Senator Scott’s bill is sponsored by 18 of his Senate colleagues.

Sen. Rick Scott Introduces Bill to Protect Americans from Dangerous CCP-Produced Products
Senator Rick Scott announced the introduction of his Protecting Americans from Harmful CCP Products Act to protect Americans from unsafe and dangerous products originating from Communist China. This would amend the Consumer Product Safety Act to give the Consumer Product Safety Commission expanded authority to issue mandatory recalls of hazardous products manufactured or sold by Chinese companies, including those operating through online platforms. Senator Scott’s bill addresses reports of baby products and toy pieces manufactured in Communist China that are hazardous or deadly, yet continue to be shipped into the United States.
Senator Rick Scott said, “The Chinese Communist Party has shown time and time again that it has no regard for the safety or wellbeing of American consumers. Every day, families unknowingly purchase products made in Communist China that can be toxic, defective, or outright dangerous, while Communist China finds new loopholes to exploit to keep them coming into our nation. My bill puts Americans first by giving the United States government immediate authority to stop Chinese companies from selling products with known product safety issues to American families, whether on our shelves or online. We cannot allow Communist China to deceive our families and put them at risk.”

Chairman Rick Scott Garners Nationwide Attention on Investigative Report Exposing America’s Overreliance on Foreign-Manufactured Generic Drugs and Fixing the Broken Supply Chain
Chairman Rick Scott of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging highlighted the broad support for his new report with Ranking Member Gillibrand titled, “Protecting Seniors’ Access to Essential Medications: Securing the Foreign Generic Pharmaceutical Supply Chain,” which exposes America’s dangerous overreliance on foreign-made generic drugs, which are largely imported from India and China. The investigative report, as well as the solutions outlined, continue to receive national attention and build on the committee’s work to strengthen oversight of generic drug safety, lower prescription costs, and ensure access to safe, affordable, American-made medications for America’s seniors. Chairman Scott previously outlined these concerns in an op-ed for The Hill HERE.
From investigating the safety of foreign-made generic drugs to holding hearings on prescription drug affordability, Chairman Scott’s leadership on the Senate Special Committee on Aging continues to drive bipartisan action to address America’s overreliance on foreign-manufactured drugs as well as improve affordability and access to safe, American-made generic drugs for every American, including our seniors.

Sen. Rick Scott Backs Bill to Pay Capitol Police Amid Schumer Shutdown
As Senate Democrats continue to vote against funding the government and paying essential workers including federal law enforcement, Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Tim Scott to introduce the Pay Our Capitol Police Act to ensure the brave men and women protecting the nation’s Capitol receive their hard-earned paychecks. Cosponsors of the Pay Our Capitol Police Act include Republican Senators Bill Cassidy, Kevin Cramer, Lindsey Graham, Cindy Hyde-Smith, James Lankford, Jerry Moran, Markwayne Mullin, Lisa Murkowski, and Dan Sullivan.
Since becoming a U.S. Senator in 2019, Senator Scott has been fighting to pass his No Budget, No Pay Act to prevent Members of Congress from receiving their own paycheck if they cannot do their jobs of funding the government.
Senator Rick Scott said, “It is despicable that Democrats continue to drag the Schumer Shutdown on, gladly accepting their own paychecks while refusing to open the government or pay our hardworking federal law enforcement, including our Capitol Police. I am proud to join my colleagues to ensure these law enforcement officers, who put their lives on the line every day to keep the Capitol, visitors, and members safe, aren’t harmed by Democrats’ political games.”

The chairman and ranking member are requesting insight from pharmaceutical distributors on how disruptions in the supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients, key starting materials, and generic drugs, including those from China and India, could impact access to safe and effective medications for American patients, particularly the aging community.
