Dear Fellow Floridian,
This week, after over 40 days of Democrats shutting down our government and harming Americans’ livelihoods to demand their own liberal wish list, I am glad we were finally able to reopen our government. Government shutdowns aren’t good for anyone – Americans were stranded in airports, worried about their safety while flying, and worried about paying their bills and mortgages because they weren’t getting paid.
It is one of Congress' basic duties to fund the government, and I will keep working to hold Congress accountable for doing so with my No Budget, No Pay Act, which says if we fail to do this basic part of our jobs, members of Congress should be the ones losing our paychecks. Our military, federal law enforcement, and FAA shouldn’t be punished if members fail to do their jobs and fund the government.
I’m working every day to pass legislation like my No Budget, No Pay Act to make Washington work better and make life easier for Florida families. This includes fixing the broken system of Obamacare to stop the skyrocketing costs for families across the country. Read more about my plan HERE.
Sincerely,

Rick Scott

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… Sen. Rick Scott in the NY Post: Democrats Getting Paid During Shutdown is ‘Pure Hypocrisy’
Senator Rick Scott continues to fight for the passage of his No Budget, No Pay Act that makes it clear if Democrats in Congress fail to do their job of funding the government and cause another shutdown – therefore preventing our troops, federal law enforcement, and FAA from getting paid – then members of Congress shouldn’t get paid either. Last week, Senator Scott pushed to pass this bill on the Senate floor during the shutdown, but the Senate Democrats blocked its passage, another example of their blatant hypocrisy. Since becoming a U.S. senator in 2019, Senator Scott has worked tirelessly to pass his No Budget, No Pay Act to hold members accountable for passing a budget, or forgo their pay, as part of his plan to make Washington work better for families in Florida and across the nation.

Chairman Rick Scott, Ranking Member Gillibrand Send Letter to Major U.S. Pharmacies on Foreign Drug Supply Chain Vulnerabilities
Chairman Rick Scott and Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging sent a letter to the chief executive officers of several of America’s largest pharmacies, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart, requesting information on their efforts to address vulnerabilities in the pharmaceutical supply chain. In the letter, the senators described reports that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted import exemptions for drugs produced in foreign factories, primarily in China and India, that had previously failed to meet their set safety standards. Chairman Scott and Ranking Member Gillibrand expressed concern that these exemptions, combined with rising geopolitical instability, could threaten drug quality and availability for American patients, particularly seniors. The members also are requesting details on the pharmacies’ sourcing of active pharmaceutical ingredients, quality assurance practices, and plans for country-of-origin labeling to improve transparency for consumers and pharmacists.

Senator Scott highlights real solutions to drive down costs and address the issues of Obamacare, like stopping taxpayer money from going to insurance companies and instead give it directly to Americans in HSA-style accounts and let them buy the health care they want by shopping across state lines.
