My Childhood Could Have Taken Me Out...
|
|
"Because of Place of Hope, I’m still here—and I’m thriving.
I came into the foster care system as a scared, hurt and angry little girl who had lost everything familiar. I didn’t know what love, safety, or belonging truly felt like. Then, I found Place of Hope.
For 25 years, this organization has been paving brighter futures for children and young adults in foster care—and no one does it better. I am living proof.
Place of Hope didn’t just give me a place to stay—it gave me a family, a foundation, and a future. They believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
Today, I’m proud to stand on the other side of that journey—as a staff member at Place of Hope, helping kids who are walking the same road I once did. Every day, I remind them that their story doesn’t have to end in pain. It can begin again—with hope.
It’s no surprise that Charity Navigator and Candid have awarded Place of Hope top honors for excellence and impact year after year. This is a place where accountability meets compassion, and where every dollar truly changes lives.
Now, I’m using my voice to advocate and fight for the thousands of young adults like me who long for a brighter future but don’t yet know how to reach it.
Because I know firsthand—hope changes everything.
Now, I need your help to reach more kids like me and give them a hand up, not a handout.
Donate. Advocate. Volunteer. Be a part of a child's story and a part of a legacy."

In this powerful episode, Sue Ende reads a letter from a young girl—homeless, alone, and still showing up to school every day, trying to hold on to hope.
November is Homelessness Awareness Month. This story is one of thousands in our community that needs to be heard.
Thousands of homeless youth, aged-out foster youth and single moms on the brink of homelessness just like her are waiting for someone to be their voice. To be their hope. To be their lifeline.
✨ You can be that someone. ✨

TBS has announced this year’s community service partnership with Place of Hope! Each year, Benjamin selects a local organization to support through a year-long service initiative.
“Concern for others and a commitment to serve society have always been integral to Benjamin’s mission and culture,” Director of Student Services Student Poncy. “Partnering with Place of Hope allows our students and families to live out those values in a meaningful way.”
As the 2025–26 collaboration begins, the school encourages students, families, faculty, and alumni to take part in this effort and continue Benjamin’s longstanding tradition of compassionate service and community impact.
The school also collaborated with us last week to support our Hurricane Melissa Drive! We are so grateful for their incredible support and helping model leadership excellence starts with youth. |
