Dear Fellow Floridian,
This week, as your United States Senator, I worked alongside President Trump and Senate Republicans to try to reopen the federal government as Senate Democrats continued to demand a shutdown. Government shutdowns are horrible for the American people, and it’s shameful to see Democrats prioritize their own liberal wish list and handouts for illegal aliens over the best interests of the nation’s families.
Democrats’ obstruction is a perfect example of the Washington dysfunction I have fought to fix for years. When I came to the Senate in 2019, I had a plan to Make Washington Work better for Florida families, including my No Budget, No Pay ActThis legislation simply says that if Congress can’t do its job to fund the government and meet appropriations deadlines, members should forgo our paychecks. Any working American knows that if you don’t do your job, you don’t get paid. Members of Congress should be held to the same standard. I’m also proud to join Senator Johnson on the Eliminate Shutdowns Act to take the threat of government shutdowns off the table and prevent Democrats from using shutdowns as leverage for their political priorities. It’s time to pass these bills and get back to working for the American people!
Watch more HERE.
Sincerely,

Rick Scott

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sen. Ron Johnson on Eliminate Shutdowns Act to End Chaos of Government Shutdowns
Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Ron Johnson on the Eliminate Shutdowns Act to take government shutdowns off the table and stop Democrats from using the threat of a shutdown to demand a liberal wish list that undermines the President’s agenda. Senator Scott is also leading his No Budget, No Pay Act that requires lawmakers to pass annual budget resolutions and appropriations bills on time, or forgo their taxpayer-funded salaries.
Senator Rick Scott said, “The American people are sick of the constant looming threat of a government shutdown due to Leader Schumer and Democrats’ ridiculous demands. This most recent threatened Schumer Shutdown is just the latest in a string of temper tantrums the Democrats have thrown to try and stop President Trump delivering for the American people. Democrats’ demands are a wasteful, liberal wish-list while President Trump and Republicans are working to fund the government and work for the American people. Families shouldn’t suffer because of Democrats’ dysfunction. I’m proud to join Senator Johnson on his effort to take shutdowns off the table to end this chaos and get to work on passing real appropriations bills and hold Congress accountable for doing so with my No Budget, No Pay Act.

Sen. Rick Scott Leads Stop ANTIFA Act to Designate Antifa a Terrorist Organization

Senator Rick Scott introduced the Stop ANTIFA Act to codify President Trump's  executive order and national security presidential memorandum designating Antifa a domestic terrorist group and countering domestic terrorism and organized political violence. The bill would direct the National Joint Terrorism Task Force to investigate and treat Antifa as the domestic terrorists they are, and stop their violent suppression of political speech, destruction of the rule of law, and the terror and intimidation they infuse into the communities they target.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Antifa has gotten away with its evils and terrorized cities across our country for far too long. Violence against our brave law enforcement officers and ICE agents will not be tolerated—especially when it’s domestic terrorists like Antifa wreaking havoc on our communities. These people actively work to destroy the American way of life and call for the overthrow of American government and society. President Trump was right to fearlessly call them out as the domestic terrorists they are and to take action to stop their evils around the nation and uncover the funding behind it. I am proud to codify the president’s actions and stand with the American people with the Stop ANTIFA Act.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… Sen. Rick Scott Slams Democrats’ Government Shutdown on Fox News: If Congress Can’t Fund Government, Congress Shouldn’t Get Paid
Senator Rick Scott joined Friends to call out Democrats for shutting down the government over their liberal trillion dollar wish-list, while Republicans push for a clean proposal to fund the government and support the American people. Senator Scott also highlighted his No Budget, No Pay Act to hold members of Congress accountable for passing a budget and meeting appropriations deadlines, or forgo their pay, and his work with Senator Johnson to take Democrats’ threat of shutdowns off the table completely with the Eliminate Shutdowns Act. Senator Scott has been fighting to pass the No Budget, No Pay Act in the Senate since 2019 as a key part of his Make Washington Work Plan.

Sen. Rick Scott, Chair Ron Johnson Request Records from LADWP for Congressional Investigation into Pacific Palisades Wildfire
Senator Rick Scott and Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI), sent a letter to Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer Janisse Quiñones and Board of Water and Power Commissioners President Richard Katz requesting records and information related to LADWP’s preparedness and response to the Pacific Palisades wildfire in January 2025. This comes as public reports have raised questions about critical water systems necessary for fire suppression and the potential mismanagement of reservoirs, which led to a lack of water on the day when residents in Los Angeles County needed it most.
The senators’ letter is the latest in their ongoing congressional investigation into the deadly Palisades fire that devastated the Pacific Palisades community in Los Angeles, resulting in billions of dollars in property damage and the tragic loss of life. This follows a letter sent last month to Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Fire Chief Kristin Crowley and interim Fire Chief Ronnie Villanueva, requesting information on the LAFD’s response to the Palisades fire.

Sen. Rick Scott Asks Trump Admin to Secure U.S. Supply Chain and Address America’s Overreliance on Foreign Generic Drug Imports in 232 Investigation
Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to Department of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer thanking them for their tireless efforts working to fulfill President Trump’s America First agenda and protect Americans, and urging them to build on these efforts by taking decisive action with a Section 232 investigation into U.S. dependence on imported pharmaceuticals. In his letter, Senator Scott notes the vulnerabilities and national security concerns of America’s overreliance on adversaries like Communist China, which supplies upwards of 80% of active pharmaceutical ingredients in generics, and emphasizes the need for domestic production to ensure Americans’ access to safe, reliable medicines.
Senator Scott has been sounding the alarm on America’s dangerous overreliance on foreign-manufactured generic drugs and how it jeopardizes both our national security and public health with a recent hearing of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging and letter to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Martin Makary on the FDA’s oversight of foreign drug manufacturing and importation.
