Supporting Our Community After Hurricane Milton

SERVICES & SUPPORT

While the skies may have cleared, many residents in Martin County are still grappling with the emotional toll from the tornadoes.

For some, especially those on fixed incomes, the road to recovery—rebuilding homes, restoring belongings, and reclaiming a sense of normalcy—can feel daunting, filled with frustration and uncertainty.

We invite you to a special gathering designed to offer both support and solutions for our community.

Join us for lunch and a meaningful conversation led by Jeff Shearer, PhD, a compassionate mental health therapist and advocate. Jeff will guide us through a discussion on finding hope, building resilience, and envisioning a brighter future.

Let’s come together as neighbors to share our stories, uplift one another, and find strength during this challenging time. Your presence is important, and together, we can heal and grow.

Space is limited to the first 150 attendees.

Local agencies have swiftly united to provide crucial support for those impacted by the tornadoes. While immediate needs are being met, the road to full recovery is a long journey, not a quick fix.

We are now entering the critical phase of long-term recovery, where many residents remain displaced, uncertain of when they can return home.

The most effective way to help is through cash donations or gift cards to essential services, so we can ensure families have access to basic necessities as they rebuild their lives. Contributions play a vital role in funding resources like temporary hotel vouchers for displaced families until larger recovery efforts are organized.

Additionally, residents impacted in designated areas are encouraged to apply for assistance through FEMA. You can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov, call 1-800-621-3362, or through the FEMA app.

For assistance, questions or more information, call 772-283-4800 or visit our website at UnitedWayMartin.org/Disaster.

Please share this information with anyone who may need assistance. We are here to support our community as we recover together.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

While some disaster efforts may be beyond our reach, we'd love for you to join us in making an immediate impact through community cleanups.

Many of our neighborhoods and community areas are still in need of helping hands to clear trash and debris. Volunteers are already hard at work, but there's still more to be done.

If you notice areas in need of attention, please notify us. If you're interested in joining an organized cleanup group, register as a disaster volunteer or feel free to gather your own small team to help.

Your help makes a difference!
