Celebrate Excellence in Education: The Silver Jubilee Evening for Education Gala

Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening of elegance and philanthropy at St. Lucie County Education Foundation’s Silver Jubilee Evening for Education Gala. This special event will take place on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the prestigious Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club in Palm City.
In celebration of 25 years of supporting educational initiatives in St. Lucie County, the Foundation is hosting this formal gala to bring together community leaders, educators, and philanthropists for a night of fine dining, live entertainment, and inspiring stories of success. The event will be headlined by acclaimed vocalist Elio Scaccio, whose smooth and captivating performances promise to set the perfect tone for the evening.
Guests are invited to join the 6:00 PM reception to mingle over cocktails, followed by a gourmet dinner served at 7:00 PM. Formal attire is requested for this elegant affair, and seating is limited to ensure an intimate and exclusive experience. Title sponsor A&G Concrete Pools will be in attendance with owner, Travis Leonard, as our auctioneer for the live auction, along with Foundation Chair Anthony Bonna.
Tickets are available at $200 each or $375 for two. As space is limited, early reservations are highly encouraged. Proceeds from the event will go directly towards programs that support student achievement, teacher development, and innovative educational projects in St. Lucie County.
In addition to the exciting evening ahead, the Education Foundation recently has increased its relevancy to St. Lucie Public Schools. Last year the Foundation impacted 30,000 students, 1000 teachers, and awarded over $1.2 million to the district to enhance academic achievement.
Thanks to a generous grant from St. Lucie County, and in partnership with the School District and Comcast, the Education Foundation is providing free or reduced internet access to all qualifying public-school students throughout their enrollment in the public school district. So far over 400 households have qualified for this innovative program.
The Foundation is also planning to create an outdoor science classroom on an island in the Indian River Lagoon. Working in cooperation with the school districts’ Marine & Oceanographic Academy, the Foundation plans to create an interpretive trail on the island, help with cleanups and plant native oysters in the lagoon to help clean up lagoon waters. Our goal is to help improve the lagoon and introduce students to this natural wonder right in our backyard.
Thanks to the energy and commitment of Foundation Board Member Dana Trabulsy, our State Representative in District 84, the Foundation is participating in the New Worlds Reading Initiative to help parents improve children reading levels while supplying take home books to sustain progress.
Another Board Member, James Abbott, is helping solve our growing traffic problem by teaching students to program using artificial intelligence (AI) to help control traffic lights. The Foundation is working with the City of Port St. Lucie to study and implement this enhanced technology thanks to the support of Foundation Chair Anthony Bonna, also Councilman for the City of Port St Lucie, District 3.
This year the Foundation will award over $200,000 in teacher grants to elevate academic programs in the classroom and will award over $50,000 for scholarships to graduating seniors.
