Krystal and Her Three Children Have A New Way Forward
|
|
Think about a typical single morning with three children: school drop-offs, a shift that starts on time, a doctor's appointment in the afternoon, groceries on the way home.
Now picture doing all of it without a mode of transportation.
For Krystal, a mom in our Transitional Independent Living Program, that was everyday life. Recently, she was handed the keys to a car of her own.
For her family, it means getting to work consistently and building financial stability. It means her children get to school, practices, and appointments without waiting on a ride that may not come. It means Krystal can say 'yes' to a better opportunity, even if it is across town!
Most youth have someone to call when plans fall through. Many of the families we serve are building a new life without that safety net. Reliable transportation gives them room to plan instead of react.
This car is one of several recently made was made possible by the generosity of The Fortin Family Foundation. Their investment is putting reliable transportation in the hands of the families and young adults in our care, and we are genuinely grateful for their support and commitment.
When you support Place of Hope and Villages of Hope, you are helping remove the barriers that stand between a family and long term stability.
This is what you get to be a part of! |

October Brings New Awareness To Place of Hope
|
|
This October, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Cybersecurity Awareness Month share the calendar. They also share a place that is easy to overlook: the phone in someone's pocket.
The same phone that connects us to the people we love can also connect the vulnerable to the people who want to harm them.
For many victims, this is where it begins. Abuse can take many forms. It can be physical violence inside a home. It can be human trafficking that starts with a conversation online. It can be mental and emotional abuse that interrupts a child's development and leaves them alone and unseen, which makes them an easy target for traffickers.
This month, we want to bring these harmful acts into the light, because awareness is where change starts. But awareness alone does not resolve these issues. That takes people who step in.
This is what stepping in looks like at Place of Hope:
· Neighborhood Foster Care. Safe, loving, licensed homes for children in crisis.
· Maternity Care. Support for young mothers through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
· Aging Out & Otherwise Homeless Youth. Guidance, housing, and mentorship for youth with no family support.
· Human Trafficking Prevention, Intervention & Recovery. Specialized care, housing, and healing for victims of exploitation, including exploitation that begins online.
· Education & Enrichment. Academic support, tutoring, job training, and life skills, giving young people independence.
· Health & Wellness. Mental, emotional, and physical care from a trauma-informed lens.
· Prevention & Outreach. Programs that empower at-risk communities to build resilience and recognize warning signs.
This month, we encourage you to join us to end egregious crimes like Human Trafficking, Child Exploitation, and Domestic Violence in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.
If you or someone you know needs support, the Florida Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-500-1119, and the Florida Human Trafficking Hotline is 1-855-352-7233. |

What Does Foster Care Look Like at Place of Hope?
|
|
|
|
It looks like family!
When a child comes into care, they often arrive with very little. Our Neighborhood Foster Care homes give them what they need most: a safe, loving, licensed home led by a married couple who care for them as their own.
Foster care at Place of Hope is family dinners and homework at the kitchen table. It is birthdays that get celebrated and bedtimes that feel safe. Children in our care also receive trauma-informed therapy, health and wellness support, tutoring, academic help, and life skills training.
Every child deserves a place where they are known, cared for, and given room to heal. That is what we work to provide every day. |
