Dear Fellow Floridian,
Like so many Floridians, I am frustrated to see Democrats putting their liberal wish list above the American people by shutting down the government. For over a week now, Democrats have voted against Republicans’ efforts to reopen the government time and time again. As your U.S. Senator, it makes me mad to think that our service members, federal law enforcement, and federal employees across our nation are about to go without a paycheck, while the same members of Congress causing this shutdown are still getting paid.
Democrats’ motives for this shutdown are clear: 1) they hate President Trump and will do anything they can to undermine him and the American people; and 2) they want to keep using your tax dollars for handouts to illegal aliens and massive, unaccountable checks to insurance companies that can fund abortion and trans surgeries, just to mask the failures of Obamacare. Obamacare is the root cause of rising health care costs across the nation – it’s a broken system that Democrats are spending billions of your dollars to just keep afloat.
We can fix it without kicking people off their health insurance or subjecting families to higher costs. We do that by lowering costs, stopping fraud, and giving Americans more choice.
But first, Democrats have to put their denial and demands aside, and do what’s in Americans’ best interests by reopening the federal government.

Senator Rick Scott led Senators Mike Lee, Marsha Blackburn, Bernie Moreno, and Josh Hawley in introducing the Charlie Kirk Patriot Way Act to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk by designating a street in our nation’s capital Charlie Kirk Patriot Way. This designation will pay tribute to Charlie, an American patriot who spent his young life promoting the founding ideals our great nation, free speech, discussion of ideas, and religious liberty, and inspired countless young Americans to stand up for their beliefs with courage and conviction.

Sen. Rick Scott Introduces Bill to Prevent NYC’s Mamdani from Arresting PM Netanyahu on U.S. Soil
Senator Rick Scott announced the introduction of the Sovereign Enforcement Integrity Act to reinforce U.S. sovereignty by limiting the authority of state and local law enforcement agencies to act on behalf of the International Criminal Court (ICC). This bill would prohibit state and local authorities, such as NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, from arresting or detaining foreign nationals like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, based solely on ICC warrants, indictments, and/or requests, unless authorized by federal law or presidential memorandum as it pertains to America’s national security. This legislation is led by Congresswoman Elise Stefanik in the House of Representatives.
Senator Rick Scott said, “NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s threats to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are dangerous, absurd, and go against the values of the United States. Senator Rick Scott issued the below statement on the second anniversary of the October 7th terrorist attack on Israel.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Two years ago today, the world watched in horror as one of the most brutal terrorist attacks in modern history unfolded. The October 7th massacre wasn’t just an assault on Israel -- it was an assault on our democratic ally and the Jewish people. Families were torn apart, communities were decimated, and innocent lives, including babies and children, were lost in the most brutal ways imaginable. The evil that showed its face that day was pure, unfiltered hatred, and it’s a chilling reminder of the threats we continue to face. I’ve had the opportunity to visit Israel many times, both as governor of Florida and as a U.S. senator. After the attack, I saw firsthand the devastation, the heartbreak, and the resilience of the Israeli people. What I witnessed only deepened my commitment to ensuring the United States always stands shoulder to shoulder with our ally, Israel, and Jewish people around the globe.

Chairman Rick Scott Leads Aging Committee Hearing on Closing Deadly Generic Drug Loopholes and Rebuilding America’s Essential Medicine Supply
Chairman Rick Scott of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging held a committee hearing titled “Bad Medicine: Closing Loopholes that Kill American Patients.” This hearing builds on the committee’s ongoing efforts and recent hearing to examine America’s overreliance on foreign-manufactured generic drugs by focusing on how lawmakers can address the systemic vulnerabilities in America’s pharmaceutical supply chain. Chairman Scott has also sent a letter to FDA Commissioner Martin Makary raising concerns about the agency’s oversight and the safety of generic drugs manufactured overseas and imported into the U.S. and is urging Commerce Secretary Lutnick and Trade Representative Ambassador Greer to consider Section 232 action on foreign-made generic drugs.

Senator Rick Scott introduced a resolution condemning Communist Chinese Dictator Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as an adversary to the United States that seeks to undermine and destroy the American way of life to become the dominant world power.

Sen. Rick Scott, Chair Ron Johnson Request Records from Mayor of LA for Congressional Investigation into Pacific Palisades Wildfire
Senator Rick Scott and Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI), sent a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass requesting records and all information related to the city’s wildfire preparedness and response to the January 2025 Pacific Palisades fire. Following the Department of Justice’s announcement of charges against a suspect believed to be responsible for starting the Lachman fire this week, growing concerns have been raised in public reports about the management and oversight of city officials. This includes concerns that the Palisades fire appears to have been caused by a reignition of the Lachman fire, even though Los Angeles officials stated that the fire was “fully contained.”
The senators’ letter is part of their ongoing congressional investigation into the deadly Palisades fire, which devastated Los Angeles communities, caused billions in property damage, and resulted in the tragic loss of life. This follows previous requests for information from including letters to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the Los Angeles Fire Department.
