| The Property Appraiser’s Office is responsible for annually locating, identifying, and valuing real and tangible personal property for purposes of ad valorem taxation. Our professionals work throughout the year to meet important deadlines established by the Florida Department of Revenue. |

| There is more significance to "January 1" than celebrating New Year's Day! |
|
| When it comes to ad valorem property taxes in Florida, everything revolves around a date of assessment of January 1. When you receive your tax bill in November, those taxes are based on a snapshot of your property valuation which took place eleven months prior on January 1. As a result, the Property Appraiser studies the previous year's real estate market activities and transactions to establish the current year values. |

| When buying real estate property, you should not assume that the property taxes will remain the same. Whenever there is a change in ownership, the assessed value of the property may reset to the full market value which may result in higher property taxes.
