Dear Fellow Floridian, Earlier this week, I was proud to welcome Venezuela’s rightful President-elect, Edmundo González, to the Senate. The Venezuelan people chose President-elect Edmundo González as their rightful leader in an effort led by opposition leader María Corina Machado and are demanding an end to Nicolás Maduro’s illegitimate regime. They want a new day of freedom and democracy and an end to Maduro’s oppressive dictatorship. As both Governor and Senator, I have fought tirelessly to defend freedom and democracy across Latin America. I’m honored to stand with President-elect González, opposition leader María Corina Machado, and the brave people of Venezuela. Together, we will end Maduro’s brutal dictatorship and ensure a free and prosperous future for Venezuela. In support of the people of Venezuela, the United States must stand strongly against any attempt by Maduro to illegitimately cling to power through violence or repression, and make way for President-elect González to bring democracy, freedom and opportunity back to Venezuela. My bill, the STOP MADURO Act, will increase the maximum reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Maduro to $100 million, using seized assets instead of U.S. taxpayer money to bring an end to the tyranny caused by this narcoterrorist. In 2020, the Trump administration did the right thing by offering a reward of up to $15 million, but it’s time to up the ante and get this good bill passed as soon as possible. Sincerely, Rick Scott United States Senator — To be the first to find out about Senator Scott's actions and statements, follow him on X, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. — |

Rick Scott Outlines Legislative Priorities as 119th Congress Begins As the 119th Congress begins, Senator Rick Scott announced his plans to refile many of his major pieces of legislation to Make Washington Work for Florida families, put America first and end the tired, dysfunctional status quo in Washington. This Congress, Senator Scott will be serving as Chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging and on the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Committee on the Budget. Senator Rick Scott said, “I’m excited to kick off the 119th Congress by refiling several pieces of legislation that truly protect and prioritize families in Florida and across the world and put their best interests first. This Congress, I’m proud to lead the Sunshine Protection Act to permanently lock the clock, and continue the fight to pass key elements of my plan to Make Washington Work like term limits for members of Congress and the No Budget, No Pay Act. I’ll also be working as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee to reverse Biden’s dangerous appeasement policies toward evil regimes, the Armed Services Committee to support the most lethal military force in the world, and leading the charge in the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to secure the border and keep our communities safe. As a member of the Budget Committee, I’ll be working tirelessly with President Trump, my colleagues in the House and Senate, and Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to end the broken status quo and reckless spending in Washington, and finally deliver the change the American people made clear they want and need. Now is the time for change. That’s why I will be fighting on Day One to confirm Trump’s nominees, and create a federal government that works for the best interests of the American people and keeps the American dream alive. I am honored to serve Florida in the U.S. Senate and I’ll be working every day to make Washington work for YOU.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott Leads Bipartisan Bill to “Lock The Clock” Senator Rick Scott introduced the bipartisan Sunshine Protection Act, to officially “lock the clock” and end the twice-yearly time change and make Daylight Saving Time the national year-round standard. In 2018, as Governor of Florida, Senator Scott signed legislation which, pending federal approval, would exempt Florida from the time change practice and allow the state to remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round. Senator Scott was joined by Senators Patty Murray, Tommy Tuberville, Rand Paul, Ron Wyden, Bill Hagerty, Cynthia Lummis, Ed Markey, Sheldon Whitehouse, James Lankford, Martin Heinrich, Alex Padilla, Brian Schatz, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Tina Smith and Katie Britt. The Senate unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act in the 117th Congress. Senator Rick Scott said, “I hear from Americans constantly that they are sick and tired of changing their clocks twice a year – it’s an unnecessary, decades-old practice that’s more of an annoyance to families than benefit to them. In 2018, as Governor of Florida, I signed legislation that would allow the state to opt out of the practice of changing the time and I’ve been a leading effort in getting this done on the federal level. I’m excited to have President Trump back in the White House and fully on board to LOCK THE CLOCK so we can get this good bill passed and make this common-sense change that will simplify and benefit the lives of American families.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott Reintroduces Bill to Set $100 Million Reward for Arrest and Conviction of Nicolás Maduro Ahead of President-Elect González’s Inauguration Ahead of Venezuela’s inauguration of President-elect Edmundo González where dictator Nicolás Maduro will continue his effort to steal a third Venezuelan presidential election, Senator Rick Scott led Senators Ted Cruz and Bill Cassidy in introducing the Securing Timely Opportunities for Payment and Maximizing Awards for Detaining Unlawful Regime Officials (STOP MADURO) Act. This legislation would increase the maximum reward amount from $15 million to a maximum of $100 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Nicolás Maduro. The reward would be paid out by the federal government using seized assets already being withheld from Maduro, officials of the Maduro regime and their co-conspirators, not taxpayer funds. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in South Florida and its federal law enforcement partners who have brought dozens of criminal charges against high-level regime officials, asset seizures total approximately $450 million dollars. Senator Rick Scott said, “The Venezuelan people have made it overwhelmingly clear that President-elect Edmundo González is their rightful leader in an effort led by opposition leader María Corina Machado. They want a new day of freedom and democracy – the time of Maduro’s oppressive dictatorship is OVER. This legislation would help guide U.S. policy in support of a transition to democratic order in Venezuela. Senator Rick Scott said, “The Venezuelan people have made it overwhelmingly clear that President-elect Edmundo González is their rightful leader and that Maduro’s time is OVER. Any attempt by Maduro to illegitimately cling to power through violence or repression will NOT be tolerated by the United States or the international community. As we prepare for President-elect Gonzalez’s inauguration on January 10th, the United States must be a leader in bringing freedom and democracy to Venezuela, starting with passing the VALOR Act.” Read more HERE. — Sen. Rick Scott: As Murderous Maduro Clings to Power, Sec. Blinken Must Protect American Hostages Senator Rick Scott released the following statement as Nicolás Maduro continues to hold Americans hostage and deprive the people of Venezuela of freedom and democracy as he prevents their rightful leader President-Elect González from being sworn in. Senator Rick Scott said, “The Venezuelan people elected Edmundo González as their rightful president, but Nicolás Maduro is desperate and using any means necessary to hold power over a people who don’t want him. I’m extremely concerned that this murderous dictator has arrested and held individuals hostage from America, Ecuador, Spain, Argentina and several other nations. Maduro will use these lives as another bargaining chip and scare tactic for the people of Venezuela and the United States – just as he has by threatening María Corina Machado and kidnapping family members of President-Elect González. I’ve reached out to the Secretary of State to make it extremely clear that the United States must protect American lives and stand for freedom and democracy in Venezuela. The United States will NOT stand down or take threats from a murderous dictator lightly.” Read more HERE. Lea más en español AQUÍ. — Sen. Rick Scott: Families are Ready for an America-First President After Four Years of Biden-Harris Failures Following the release of the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ December jobs report showing that despite the Biden administration’s attempt to paint rosy picture of the U.S. job market, over 350,000 full-time jobs were lost over the month, while part-time work has increased by nearly 188,000 jobs. This points to an unstable job market and scary reality for families who are unable to find stable, full-time jobs and forced to take on part-time work to make ends meet. Senator Scott also released a weekly update on his actions to address America’s debt crisis, rising inflation and failing economy caused by the Biden-Harris administration’s reckless and radical agenda. Senator Rick Scott said, “Joe Biden is lying to the American people about the state of the American economy, and this is exactly why they voted for change by electing President Trump. The American people have had enough of the reckless Biden-Harris policies that have destroyed the American Dream. On January 20th, Trump is taking office with a mandate to fix the problems the American people have been burdened with under the Biden administration. When I travel around Florida and talk to families, I hear heartbreaking stories about parents having to take on part-time work after losing their jobs, or having to go without and just scraping by. Growing up in public housing, I watched my parents work hard but still struggle to put food on the table. A new day is on the horizon, and myself, along with the majority of Americans who voted for President Trump, are looking forward to the America First policies we will see over the next four years.” Read more HERE. — |
