Stuart, FL – The Martin County School District (MCSD), in partnership with the Education Foundation of Martin County (EFMC), proudly celebrated the outstanding achievements of educators during the annual Teacher of the Year Awards Celebration, held at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Event Center in Port St. Lucie. The event was presented by Audi Stuart, Infiniti Stuart and Alfa Romeo Stuart.
The festive evening featured elegant décor, vibrant entertainment and a strong sense of community as educators, families and supporters gathered to honor the exceptional individuals who make a profound impact on student success across Martin County.
During the celebration, MCSD and EFMC announced Martin County High School’s Chanda Leon as the District’s 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Leon joined the Martin County School District in 2010 and has been a teacher for 24 years.
In addition to announcing the District Teacher of the Year, the event recognized outstanding educators at the elementary, middle and high school levels, along with the school selected for the coveted Spirit Award:
- High School Teacher of the Year – sponsored by Keiser University: Chanda Leon, Martin County High School - Science
- Middle School Teacher of the Year – sponsored by the Education Foundation of Martin County: Cassie Mailhot, Stuart Middle School - Social Studies
- Elementary School Teacher of the Year – sponsored by Cigna Healthcare: Alexis Gray, Palm City Elementary School - 4th Grade
- Spirit Award – sponsored by Publix Super Market Charities: Felix A. Williams Elementary
“The Teacher of the Year celebration is a time-honored tradition that highlights the extraordinary dedication of our educators,” said Superintendent Michael Maine. “We are grateful for the Education Foundation of Martin County and all of our sponsors who make this event possible, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of our school-level honorees.”
