Chapman School Celebrates Maritime Workforce Graduates

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chapman School of Seamanship Celebrates Graduation of
Professional Mariner and Yamaha Marine Technician Students

STUART, FL (June 01, 2026) — Chapman School of Seamanship is proud to announce the graduation of 23 students from two of our premier workforce development programs, on Friday, May 29, 2026. Fourteen students completed the Yamaha Marine Maintenance Certification program, and nine students completed the Professional Mariner Training (PMT). Both are intensive nine-week programs designed to launch graduates directly into careers in the marine industry.

Florida's marine industry generates nearly $32 billion annually for the state's economy and $1.3 billion on the Treasure Coast alone, yet the industry faces a critical and growing shortage of skilled workers. Today, Chapman is proud to place 23 more qualified professionals into that workforce. These graduates are not just filling desperately needed positions, they are highly qualified and are stepping into living-wage careers that will support themselves and their families, all in a fraction of the time and without the debt incurred with traditional college or technical school programs.

Among this session's Yamaha graduates are three women, a milestone worth celebrating in an industry historically dominated by men. Combined with a female graduate from the previous session, Chapman is proud to be part of a growing shift toward diversity in the marine workforce.

Chapman's Yamaha Marine Mechanics Certification Program holds the distinguished honor of being the number one Yamaha technical school partner in the country--a designation awarded by Yamaha based on graduate employment.

"We are incredibly proud of each of these graduates”, said Jim Allen, Executive Director. "They committed to an intense nine weeks of hands-on training, and they are walking out the door ready to build meaningful careers in the marine industry”.
