My office works for you. Whether it’s a delayed passport or a miscalculated tax refund, everyone on my constituent services team is committed to delivering for Florida’s 21st Congressional District. I’m pleased to share a few more stories from neighbors we’ve been able to assist this year.
"Forms vanished, the same documents were requested again and again, and we were ready to give up. "After MaryAnn's father passed away in 2020, her brother filed the final tax returns and waited for the refunds owed to the family. The IRS made them wait nearly seven years, losing signed-for documents and requesting the same paperwork from two different offices. MaryAnn reached out to my team in Port St. Lucie as a last resort. Within a few months, the case was closed and the refund was on its way.
She put it plainly: "Without their intervention, we would have lost that portion of our inheritance."
"It is good to know that your office made this happen." Jerry's tax preparer was certain his deduction was valid. The IRS disagreed, and the dispute dragged on long enough that the federal government denied his passport renewal over it. My office took it directly to the IRS. The deduction was allowed, the case was closed, and Jerry is free to travel again.
"It took months of back and forth but you never gave up!" M.W. runs a small business and mailed an insured package to a customer here in Florida. The customer never got it. The Postal Service didn't return it either; they shipped it out of state and then tried to charge M.W. postage due for the privilege. My team stayed on the case until USPS honored its own policy and reimbursed the full cost of the package and the shipping.
Federal agencies don't get to run out the clock on you. When the phone tree goes nowhere and the letters stop coming, my team picks up where the agency left off, and we don't let go until you have an answer.
