Happy National Senior Citizen Day!
Dear Fellow Floridian,
Happy National Senior Citizen Day! Florida is the proud home to over 4 million seniors who have chosen to retire and spend their golden years in the Sunshine State. Today and every day, I want to say thank you for all that Florida's seniors do to contribute to our communities and our state’s success.

I take my job to make Washington work and support our seniors seriously, which is why I’m proud to be Chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. As Chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, I believe we must prioritize policies that ensure older Americans are not just expanding their lifespans but improving overall wellness by achieving good health and financial security, living in a safe community, and establishing strong family and community support systems.
This Congress, I am working to pass my Protect Our Seniors Act, to safeguard the benefits of Social Security and Medicare, which are critical entitlement programs facing unacceptable threats of insolvency after decades of mismanagement in Washington. I am also leading the SENIOR Act to address senior loneliness, fighting to reauthorize the Older Americans Act (OAA) to renew vital programs for seniors, and the GUARD Act and the STOP Scammers Act to combat fraud and financial scams targeting our seniors. Recently, I led the Aging Committee in releasing our 2025 fraud report, Age Fraud: Scams Facing Our Nation’s Seniors to highlight the growing financial threats facing aging Americans and ways for seniors to identify red flags to prevent victimization and respond to and report scams. I encourage you to read it HERE and learn more about our work to combat fraud and scams.
This month, I led a field hearing in Florida on "Protecting Florida's Seniors: Fighting Fraud and Financial Exploitation", which covered the growing threat that scams and financial fraud pose to aging Americans while discussing ways to strengthen protections for our senior citizens, and best practices for prevention, improved reporting, and coordinated responses to fraud to better understand how community outreach, education, and enforcement have the ability to protect our aging community.
Thank you again for all that you do for our great state, and know that you can always count on me to fight for Florida’s seniors!
