We kicked off the week with Groundhog Day, when Punxsutawney Phil delivered the less-than-welcome news that winter is sticking around a bit longer. As if on cue, Tallahassee even saw snow on Saturday. I hope you’re all taking this news better than I am, but let’s hang in there and keep warm all the way from Tallahassee to the Treasure Coast. |

This Tuesday, I presented HB 1063, Gubernatorial Transition, which fellow Representatives described as a “thoughtful bill.” The legislation ensures a swift, transparent, and accessible transition for a newly elected Governor. HB 1063 establishes a formal process to govern how transitions occur when a new Governor takes office in Florida. The bill passed the State Affairs Committee unanimously with 22 yays and 0 nays.
HB 4011 St. Lucie County Mosquito Control, also passed this committee and was “reported favorably”. This bill would require voter approval to replace existing boundaries with a new legal description that incorporates additional areas of St. Lucie County into the District.
On Thursday, I joined Representative Trabulsy to present House Bill 803, Building Permits and Inspections, legislation focused on streamlining Florida’s permitting and inspection process by improving transparency, standardizing applications, and reducing delays for homeowners and builders.
Also on Thursday, the first reading was held for my bill, House Bill 1387, State Economic Development Contracts, which proposes new requirements and procedures for employers seeking state economic development incentives and ensures accountability in how state economic development contracts are awarded and enforced. Both bills are crucial to improving efficiency, transparency, and economic opportunity in Florida. |

| Space Day was a success. FIU president, Jeanette Nuñez and aerospace students from FSU gave amazing speeches expressing their commitment to space exploration and research in Florida. Very exciting talks, the future is bright! |

| FJJA, Florida Juvenile Justice Association, had an amazing event with meaningful testimonies that taught everyone in attendance what their association does for young kids. I learned how we can better foster these systems and children who fall into them. A second chance can be a life-saving chance. |

| My cursive bill did phenomenal on the house floor with an astonishing 111 YAYS and 0 NAYS. I’m happy to announce HB127 is off to the Senate and is now referred to as SB444 due to this bill's amazing Senate companion, Aaron Grall. |

| Thursday morning, Representative W. Robinson and I presented HB1137. I’m proud to be a prime co-sponsor of this bill, and it will allow for the tax deductions for unsellable alcoholic beverages and establish procedures for extraordinary losses. It passed favorably in the ‘Industries & Professional Activities’ Subcommittee and is off to its next stop, the Commerce Committee. |
