Here are some key updates from my bills and prime co-sponsored bills:
- CS/HB 1063 – Gubernatorial Transition - My Bill: Establishes a clear process for transitioning between administrations to ensure transparency, continuity, and an efficient transfer of executive leadership.
- Movement: It has passed through all of its House referrals and is waiting to be heard on the House Floor.
- HB 1457 – Stormwater Treatment - My Bill: Strengthens stormwater management policies to better protect Florida’s waterways while providing clarity for responsible development.
- Movement: It recently passed the Natural Resources and Disaster Committee, and its next stop is the State Affairs Committee.
- HB 4011 – St. Lucie County Mosquito Control District, St. Lucie County (sponsor is Rep. Trabulsy, and I'm the Primary Co-sponsor): Revises the St. Lucie County Mosquito Control District’s boundaries and requires voter approval to implement the changes.
- Movement: It has made it through all of its stops on the House side and has now been referred to the Rules Committee in the Senate!
- HB 803 – Building Permits and Inspections (sponsor is Rep. Trabulsy, and I’m the Primary Co-sponsor): Simplifies Florida’s building permit and inspection process so unnecessary delays, excessive fees, and outdated rules don’t burden homeowners and contractors.
- Movement: On 2/18, it reported favorably in the Commerce Committee and has been sent to be heard on the House Floor.
- HB 121 – Nursing Education Programs: Strengthens oversight of nursing programs to improve quality, accountability, and workforce readiness while protecting students from underperforming schools.
- Movement: It has completely passed the house and has made its way to the Senate side on the Fiscal Policy Committee!
- HB 127 – Required Instruction in Cursive Writing: Requires public schools to teach cursive writing so students can read historical documents and maintain foundational writing skills.
- Movement: It has now been referred to the Senate Rules Committee.
- HJR 211 – Save-Our-Homes Portability Expansion: Proposes a constitutional amendment allowing homeowners to transfer more of their accrued property tax savings when moving within Florida (non-school taxes only).
- Movement: It's made its way to the third stop, the Ways and Means Committee.
