Let’s talk about prescription drug pricing

FAIR & AFFORDABLE DRUG PRICING

In 2010, when the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was signed into law, Americans were promised affordable and reliable healthcare. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. Premiums have skyrocketed, options narrowed, and our prescription drug prices became among the highest in the world—while other countries paid a fraction of the cost for the same medications. The United States pays higher drug prices than other countries. That’s just wrong, and it ends now.
In May, the President signed an executive order to implement what’s called “Most Favored Nation prescription drug pricing.”
Specifically, this plan directs the executive branch to investigate and work to stop foreign countries from freeloading off American innovation. It will open the door to direct-to-consumer purchasing at the lowest international price possible. As the largest purchaser of prescription drugs in the world, the United States should be getting the best deal—and now, we finally will.
Have you experienced an unreasonable rise in prescription costs? I’d like to hear more about your experience.
