Dear Friends,
Election Day is only days away, and now is the time to make your voice heard.
No matter where you stand on the issues shaping Martin County’s future, local elections give each of us an opportunity to have a say in the decisions that affect our community.
Early voting is underway now through Saturday, August 15. Election Day is Tuesday, August 18.
Here’s something voters may not realize: Most of our local races will be decided in the August election, including races for Martin County Commission, School Board, Stuart City Commission and Indiantown Village Council. And all registered voters can participate in these local races, regardless of political party affiliation.
The exception is the Stuart City Commission race featuring incumbent Eula Clarke and two challengers. With three candidates in that race, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the vote to win outright. If no one does, the two candidates receiving the most votes will advance to a runoff in November.
In other words, for most of these local races, August 18 isn’t just a primary. It’s the election that will decide who represents you.
Before you vote, take a few minutes to review your ballot and learn more about the candidates seeking to represent our community. To help voters access a range of perspectives, One Martin has linked below candidate endorsements and recommendations from Tom Campenni, publisher of Friends & Neighbors, and C-PAC. We encourage you to review these resources, consider the candidates’ positions and records, and make the choice that best reflects your priorities.
You can also verify your voter information, find your polling location, view a sample ballot and access additional election information through the Martin County Supervisor of Elections website.
At One Martin, we believe an informed community is a stronger community. We encourage every eligible voter to stay engaged, do their research and participate in this important local election.
Respectfully,
Rick Hartman and the One Martin Board of Directors
