Project LIFT Awarded Federal Grant

A message from the CEO

This year, like the previous, has been a fantastic year of growth for Project LIFT! Taking the organization and our innovations to the next level will always have many opportunities, but the difficult part will be choosing those with intention.

When we began Project LIFT thirteen years ago, we believed that this new model for mental health counseling alongside vocational training would resonate with local funders, community supporters, and quasi-governmental agencies. This path would give Project LIFT the opportunity to prove the concepts locally, and eventually make a well-timed request for a large sustainable grant. We believe this can lead to policy change and critical legislation related to mental health and job readiness in our country.

This year, our amazing team was able to put together a request to the Department of Labor for just that. In June 2022, Project LIFT was awarded a four-year, five-million dollar request to build capacity at all three locations, with future sites eligible to participate in the outcomes of the grant, as well.

We have always sought funding with the purpose to enhance the programs and mental health model offered at Project LIFT, and this does exactly that!

Congrats, Grads!!

Congratulations to all of our Summer 2022 Pathway graduates!

There were 20 hard working young men and women that successfully graduated from the Pathway program with their accredited high school diplomas on August 16, 2022.

They all overcame a number of obstacles to get to this point - all while learning a skilled trade at the same time!

Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast

Project LIFT welcomes the Marine Industry Association of the Treasure Coast (MIATC) as a new member of the Business & Trades Society (BTS)!

MIATC President, Tom Whittington (middle-right), and his team of all-star staff have recently partnered with our Project LIFT Ft. Pierce program to help in preparing our young adults to join the Marine Industry upon program completion.

Our teens recently spent an entire day with Rob Mac Keen, Vice President - MIATC, at Derecktor Shipyard (top). There are over 23 different vocational trades that take place at Derecktor, and Project LIFT's goal is to help fill those positions through our programming.

"Tom and his team have gone above and beyond in helping our Project LIFT at-risk teens understand the opportunity to have a successful career in the Marine Industry!" - Shawn Keil, Regional Development Director - Project LIFT
