Rep. Toby Overdorf - News Update from Tallahassee

Good Afternoon, everyone. Session has begun! Week one was productive and work is well underway.

Session began Tuesday morning with our Opening Session with introductions by Speaker Renner, followed by a Joint Session with Senate President Passidomo and the Senate, where we received the State of the State Address from Governor DeSantis. It was great to have the Governor in the chambers, where he laid out the success we’ve shared over the last four years, and the success that will come. I am excited to work with Speaker Renner on behalf of the people of Florida and District 85. Speaker Renner was also kind enough to meet my Uncle Dave, which made his day.

The day ended with a wonderful State of the State Reception and Concert, as well as a Florida Federation of Young Republicans Reception.

On Wednesday, the day began early with Water Quality, Supply, and Treatment Subcommittee, where I introduced a bill to ratify Department of Environmental Protection rules on Septic Tanks created to enforce the Clean Waterways Act.

Afterwards, in Commerce Committee, we heard and voted in favor of HB3 Government and Corporate Activism, which I have co-sponsored.
