Good evening. Girl Scouts from all over Southeast Florida pitched in to help fight hunger by collecting, donating and boxing food. Please find a food drive recap below and attached. I also provided a link to download photos. Thanks for considering sharing this and let me know if you have any questions about the troops in your neighborhood.

Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida’s Feeding Florida Together Food Drive Donates 6,560 Pounds of Food to Help Fight Hunger
Troops volunteered 327 hours to collect non-perishable items and pack boxes.

Lake Worth, Fla. (June 24, 2026) – Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida spearheaded a council-wide food drive called Feeding Florida Together to work toward a hunger-free community. Eight hundred forty girls from 82 troops in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties clocked 327 volunteer hours and donated 6,560 pounds of food to 45 pantries and collection centers.

The girls learned the importance of giving back to their communities and helping those who are less fortunate. The eye-opening experience taught them that, according to Feeding South Florida, one in seven people and one in five children face hunger in Florida. This equates to more than 3.2 million people and nearly 807,000 children in the state who are food insecure.

“At Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida, we instill community stewardship, volunteerism and leadership in our members of all ages from five-year-old Daisies to high school senior Ambassadors,” said Lisa Johnson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. “By introducing the concept of giving back to the community at a young age, it will become a positive habit these girls will take with them into adolescence and adulthood and pass on to the next generation. Food insecurity is one of the most pressing issues South Florida faces. I am proud of all the girls who pitched in to make a difference.”

By collecting or purchasing non-perishable items such as canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, sauce, cereal, beans, baking mixes, juices, crackers and snacks, the girls are providing much-appreciated relief to families throughout the region. Some troops volunteered to sort food and pack boxes at the donation centers. At the conclusion of the food drive, each participating Girl Scout received a Feeding Florida Together 2026 patch to sew on her Girl Scouts sash or vest.

Weston-based Troop 10055 volunteered 150 hours at CROS Ministries and Boca Raton-based Troop 24626 donated 338 pounds of food to Boca Helping Hands in Boca Raton, more than any other troop.

Other organizations that benefitted from the Feeding Florida Together campaign include Broward Outreach Center; CROS Ministries’ food pantries in Jupiter, Indiantown and Central Palm; Feeding South Florida; Grace Packs…Love Provides; Hibiscus Children’s Center; House of Hope; Mustard Seed Ministry – St. Lucie County; Palm Beach County Food Bank; The Pantry of Broward; and Salvation Army of Lake Worth.
