Get ready to party Polynesian-style at United Way’s inaugural Tikis on the Terrace presented by All About Achieving Learning Centers. The event takes place on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, 6-10 p.m. at Tuckahoe Terrace at the Mansion at Tuckahoe. Guests will Luau for Literacy to raise critical funds for Martin County’s early childhood literacy initiatives. The event promises a full evening of sights, sounds and entertainment in the style of retro-tiki revival. The theme is whimsical, but the mission is serious -- 57 percent of Martin County children are not ready for kindergarten . Studies show that kindergarten readiness can often dictate whether students are successful in future years. All proceeds from Tikis on the Terrace will be leveraged to fund programs that are targeting kindergarten readiness and reading readiness in grades K-2. Tickets are $75 each prior to Jan. 31 and includes tropical-inspired fare, unlimited libations and, of course, traditional Polynesian and fire dancers.
